this morning, we can only show you this construction site from afar. crews told us no one is allowed back there on the side until later this afternoon. that's when an official press conference will be held. but we're told officials, workers, they will be out there. and there will be a lot of action going on. and this is why. construction of a tunnel under the bay from meno park to newark. try to imagine on the 14-acre construction site, the work of a 81-foot tall claim with a bucket for the 41-foot deep tunnel shaft. all of that will take place in order to commemorate the work which will take place. this is a first. it's the first tunneling project underneath the bay. it's a five-mile long passage way between menlo park and newark. many say carrying passengers under the sea. but actually, the transit tunnel is a sunk tube, anchored to the bay floor. this new passage way will transport billions of gallons of water to dozens of cities up and down the peninsula. and ensures bay area residents will have water after an earthquake. the five-mile, 15-foot dia
