and at berkeley -- i won't give you the whole litany -- but berkeley is one of those communities that is highly educated. we have 22 nobel prize winners from brerkly. the gentleman from fema, we have more people take "the new york times" percent-wise than new york city. we also take "the chronicle" in higher percentage than people? san francisco. i don't know. people in berkeley have been extremely generous. we have one of the highest tax rates in the nation. you know, not just in the state but in the nation, and people have still said it's important for them to deal with disaster preparedness and to make steps -- earthquake our schools. so the citizens of berkeley have actually approved $362 million in bonds to strengthen our schools, all 16 schools have been strengthened or re paired or reconstructed. the city now has an earthquake-safe emergency command center. they've given us money to be able to -- what i really like, it's a really cool thing, an emergency water supply where they take it down to the bay and drop it in the bay and they can pump water all the way up to the hills if

berkeley and all of this is sweeping from the north all the way to the south, southeast. so yes, it does look like this is going to be on the menu for the big game tonight. prepare for wet conditions. rain and wind will be increasing overnight as that frontal boundary makes its way across the bay area. from rain to scattered showers. maybe an isolated thunderstorm in our forecast for sunday and then we'll dry things up for us monday and tuesday. temperature wise, mid- to upper 50s. this is a look at the storm system, pretty impresssive cold front. enhancing quite nicely right here toward the base. look at that, cloud build-up. the front will move through tonight. it will be the low that will bring us the scattered showers and the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm and some of that colder air wraps in behind this by tomorrow afternoon. the wind will pick up as well. 4:00 o'clock this afternoon, check it out. by 6:00 o'clock, kickoff tonight, big game, 7:15. there you go. by 9:00 o'clock, yeah, the rain is coming down. heavier amounts north of the golden gate bridge. 1

the uc berkeley chancellor we talked with him this afternoon, he told us that there was a woman, a staff member who spotted this man or road the elevator with this man and saw the gun in his backpack. he apparently while he was in the elevator with this staff member, he reached in the backpack and reached in for the gun. that drew concern in her and she ended up alerted authorities. no one hurt in this shooting, we are still waiting. we asked police for an update on the condition of the man with the gun who was shot. he was rushed over to highland hospital we understand. we don't know his condition, police are not releasing his condition. they're not saying much about who he is either. we asked whether he's a student, they said at this point it's unclear if this person is a student or not. all we know is he is a man, a white man in his 20s, and again, uc berkeley police confronted him. he had a weapon they say inside of the business school this afternoon and he was shot by uc berkeley police officers. that's the latest as we know it here from the cal campus, i'm alex sadvedge. >>> from a
