spanier denies that claim. flames are raging in northern california as governor jerry brown declares a state of emergency in areas affected by the wildfires. a state of emergency has been declared in three california counties. the "ponderosa fire" seen here is just one of many burning through the western half of the u.s.. the massive blaze sends hazy clouds of smoke through the air impairing visibility. some areas are under mandatory evacuation orders. officials say at least 50 buildings have been scorched in the past week. no one thought much about a bundle of balloons in a tree, until they saw what it was attached to. someone taped the balloons to a little box turtle in southern california and set them flying. the balloons got stuck in a tree and left the turtle stranded. the wind eventually blew the balloons to the ground. fortunately, the turtle was not injured and was taken to the humane society. animal activists are outraged by the prank... investigators will continue to search for the person responsible.
