. >> more breaking news, this time in the south bay. san jose police and fire on scene of an early morning crash that sends a car right in the wall of an apartment complex. this happened in the cambria neighborhood. bob redell arrived. what have you learned? >> reporter: good morning. the corner of camden and donna you can see this truck that hit the side of an apartment building. we learned that it's fortunate no one was hurt. i don't know i you can see by the passenger front wheel, that's where the gas meters are. the truck hit those but did not break them that would cause a fire. they were able to secure the building or the gas lines. i talked to the man who lives here. he wasn't at home at the time but his wife called him to say she heard a crash. and what it was was this truck, jay drains rueter service. he's not in custody. he was coming down camden and fell asleep at the wheel. he put his foot on the gas, hit a parked car, did a u-turn and you can see he hit the back of this volvo, the speed limit sign and ended up where he's at.

the fiercest wind is in the south bay. take it easy traveling through santa cruz mountains in particular. it's going to be breezy the first part of the day. we'll see winds drop off. as we head through about now and lunch time. then between lunch time and the overnight hours we're talking about a much calmer situation. we're tracking some showers in the forecast. 52 degrees in livermore. 54 in san jose. i wanted to show you temperatures because we're only going to climb by 5 to 8 degrees from where you'll be when you walk out the front door. bring the heavy coat with you. you have to factor in the wind chill making temperatures feel about 5 to 8 degrees cooler in the heat of the day. it's going to feel like winter. 61 degrees in san jose. 59 degrees on the way to oakland and 58 in san francisco. tracking the showers, expect activity, mostly in the south bay. the east bay has a fair chance. not going to see a lot of action to the north of the golden gate bridge. a cell at 7:00 p.m. we're looking pretty good overnight hours

the south bay, though this don't have b.a.r.t. trains through it may cause a ripple as more might head south, use the south bay office perhaps. we'll see how traffic flow changes. right now at the limit. we're looking at the peninsula. 101 through palo alto moves but folks have to connect between the city and the san mateo bridge. a lot of low clouds throughout as well. what do you have in store for us? >> well t low clouds will likely become a factor as we head throughout the next couple hours so keep that in mind. add extra time. 50 degrees in san jose, 53 in san jose and 54 degrees out in gilroy. chilly conditions out there. if you will be waiting for the ferry whether it's in oakland or san francisco, count on a chilly start with areas of thick fog. that could slow flights as well as the commute. we're going to keep on top of that. right now the thickest visibility or the thickest fog redoozing visibility down to a half mile. six miles in san jose. it's unusual to see this fog in the south bay. that is the case. throughout the

temperatures are close to average in the south bay, mid-to-upper 70's this afternoon clouds. low-to-mid 70's and sun for the rest of the peninsula, and a brisk day at the coast. cold and damp and mid-50's. mid-60's downtown and south san francisco and sausalito at 68. mid-to-upper 70's in the north bay valleys. bodega bay is only 53 due to the burn. we will have mid-60's to low 70's for the east bay shore line and the warmest weather inland is up to the 80's for the east bay valley. tonight, the thickest fog is in the same areas and east bay valleys, especially. which low pressure will dominate the weather? it is the weather that is cut off from the main low overturning the atmosphere on friday. it will bring in mid-to-upper clouds and that will hold our temperatures in the low-to-mid 80 range, say, low 80's we have a cooler air mass monday and tuesday but the transition, again, will be dry. if you are headed out in the next hour grab a coat. it is damp and chilly outside right now. >> come inside, mike, you are done! >> an embarrassment for the i.r.s. lots of contractors who

very comfortable in the south bay. going to feel like fall out here. 79 in san jose. 81 in gilroy. 80 in los gatos. and 73 and sunny skies in santa cruz. throughout the east bay, temperatures aren't going to vary a whole lot from the south bay. with a cooler air mass sitting just above. it's going to help to keep temperatures very consistent here. we'll have 80 in livermore. 78 in presentton. also, 73 in hayward. san francisco, 71 and downtown looking fine. 83 expected in napa. let's get to the wind. we think it's going to increase the most and be the biggest concern throughout thursday. by the morning hours at 9:00 a.m., winds 15 to 20 miles per hour for the most part. at the coastline by the afternoon, and the early evening, notice the colors expand again. right at the coast. also, the north bay. that core corresponds to the key here. we get winds. fire danger is a concern. looks like they will turn offshore out of the north and from the east. especially in the hills above 1,000 feet that will decrease that humidity

partly cloudy to mostly cloudy towards south bay. breezy and windy about 38 miles per hour off the coast. the low is favoring area towards the sierra nevada and it's enhancing this push towards monterey. they are getting some light rain there. a foot of snow and weather advisory until 4:00. it's going to be a cool breezy day. temperatures will struggle today upper 50s low 60s. temperatures will pop up but nothing will surprise me. right now you can see some of that cloud cover right near monterey and santa cruz we had a report of some sprinkles. we have some continued snow. there has been some pretty good snow. 39 in napa. it's going to be cold. we'll see improving conditions but a cooler breezy partly cloudy, light rain possible here. a little windy at times and that's favoring areas to the north and also in higher elevation. it will not be warm today. brentwood, oakland 61, berkeley, 60. everyone is pretty close. santa cruz and cupertino is close. everyone is within the 50s or 60s. halloween looks good. that temps will drop fast. o

at the limit on 880 down into the south bay. bogging down a tiny bit around mission and we'll look at the maps, around 237, not enough to cause a problem. you see the yellow toward 262. look at a smooth flow through the south bay. but we have slowing starting to crop up as you hit capital expressway. a little dip toward about 55. continuing up to 680 with the heavier volume of traffic. 87 into downtown as well. that's not unusual for this time. smooth through the tri-valley. a little slowing, 680, down through pleasanton. south into sunol. southbound, heading to highway 24, earlier crash moving to the shoulder. enough to kick off slowing. down toward 24, no problem through lafayette or the caldecott tunnel. the approach to the maze and easy drive as you look at the emeryville camera. still very close to the limit throughout the drive. right here into berkeley and university avenue. >> i don't know if you have been to one of these but a japanese clothing giant expanding on the peninsula. new store opening its doors at the hillsda
