. >>> people in antioch were chased out of their homes this morning by a fast-moving fire. smoke filled the air above delta pines apartments. fire started on a balcony quickly spread gutting a roof and engulfing two buildings. it happened just after 8 a.m. on sycamore drive. flames jumped from one building to another through a shared attic space. a lot of people were already awake getting ready for work. some ran door to door warning their neighbors to get out. >> we're told people in 32 apartments had to be evacuated. they were taken to a safe zone. it took fire crews from two departments with 13 engines and four ladder trucks to put out the fire and protect the other buildings. >>> there's clear strategy for firefighters battling the huge "rocky fire" in lake county. their game plan includes attacking the fire early in the day. it's burned across 68,000 acres and the fire is 20% contained. so far 39 homes and 52 outbuildings have been destroyed. the latest flare-ups have been reported around morgan valley road and road. tonight thousands still have not returned home. kpix

this happened at the carmike hickory 8 theater in antioch, tennessee. police say it was 2:00 p.m. this armed man walked into the ad max: fury road a witness said the suspect was carrying two backpacks with one on his chest and wearing a mask. police say three moviegoers were blasted with pepper spray and one was also treated for a wound. an officer made his way into the movie theater and exchanged gunfire and a s.w.a.t. team responded shooting and killing the gunman as he tried to escape. there were 7 people in the movie theater at the time. three had to be treated for injuries. it appears nobody was shot except the gunman. moviegoers say quick response by police saved lives. >> i am grateful. excuse me. for the police department, their fast response today and the fact that no one else got injured other than the person who did this and i would like to thank the citizens who helped my daughter when we were pepper sprayed. that gives me more faith in humanity again. >> the bomb squad was called in. one of the backpacks contained a fake bomb. witnesses are being interviewed now by po

the temperature in antioch is at 92 which is the hotspot. 92 in fairfield and livermore. it is hot in the inland bay valleys. around the valley -- around the bay, it is mild. what is different today in the next day is you can see the clouds. as we get into thursday , instead of partly cloudy, we're talking mostly cloudy. it is a check on what is happening around the united states. in the ohio valley, there are rain showers. then around the four corners and in texas, those are the hot spots. everybody else's had a pretty good run the last 24 hours. the fog will be back tomorrow morning, you can count on that. tomorrow will be just like today pretty much. there will be small differences and a few more high clouds. the current temperature is 86 in fairfield and 87 in concorde. we are not seeing a big heat up because the high is coming out of the southwest. we are sandwiched between that and the cool and moist pacificare. the temperatures will be in the eastern sacramento and san joaquin valley. the wind is going west which will bring the fog in late tonight and early morning
