that is indiana. look at that. todd young, the republican looking to keep the seat is up with a significant margin there, up more than 13,000 votes but only 2% of the vote is in. keep watching that very, very closely. it's such a big one. let's look at the votes coming in from kentucky. rand paul who started out this campaign running for president dropped out. trying to keep his senate seat, in race for re-election, little more than 10,000 votes ahead of his democratic challenger, jim gray. we'll keep watching that as well. again that's only 2%. let's look at the current balance of power, where we start this eevevening. democrats at 36. republicans have 30. we are looking at 34 seats that we'll be monitoring and projecting as we get the results in throughout the night. >> really it's nine seats. >> it's those nine. >> that we're really focusing on. the others don't really have competitive races. >> exactly. >> three or four weeks ago, democrats wish the election had taken place in early october hillary clinton was

and a victory for workers in indiana. the president-elect managed a deal with the air conditioner company carrier. on twitter last night he said this, i will be going to indiana on thursday to make a major announcement concerning carrier ac staying in indianapolis. great deal for workers. now vice president-elect mike pence who, by the way is currently the governor of indiana and holds a lot of sway here and can give some carrots for this deal, he's going to join in that announcement. >> there are critics. cnbc reports that carrier received new inducements from the state of indiana. translation -- money. critics say taxpayers could be on the hook. unclear how many jobs we're talking about here. carrier says close to 1,000 will be saved but 2100 people who work at those two facilities in the area, we're told, those jobs would be going away. 1,000 out of 2100. this is a negotiation. it is a deal for donald trump. he's making good on a promise to stop companies from shifting jobs overseas. the other thing here, the leverage

kentucky and indiana have both gone to donald trump. indiana has 11 electoral college votes. kentucky has eight. the state of vermont has gone to hillary clinton with three electoral college votes. it is still very, very early in this race. these are rather small states, not the big swing states that people have been looking at closely to decide who is going to win this election. but again indiana and kentucky have gone on to donald trump with 19 votes, electoral college votes in total between those two states and the state of vermont that has gone to hillary clinton. just now here is where the polls have closed as you mentioned. most of the state of florida, georgia, indiana, the western half of kentucky, which has just been declared new hampshire, south carolina, vermont, and virginia. those are the states where the polls have just closed at the top of the hour. 4:00 our time, 7:00 p.m. on the east coast in those states. the states were particularly paying attention to the biggest one of course is is florida. that state has 29 electoral votes. that is a state both candidate

indiana, though, a different story. in the state of indiana, if we roll forward, we have 6% of the vote already coming in. and the reason that we have this much is because of early voting, mail-in ballots and the rest. we already have a call here. the fox news decision desk projects donald trump will win the state of indiana. absolutely no surprise. solid republican and has been. so 11 electoral votes go to donald trump. that's the beginning. then there's south carolina, no call yet in south carolina a traditionally red state without any question. fox news does project that donald trump will win the bluegrass state of kentucky. we've just called this from the decision team. 8% of all the votes in. but it's clear based on the statistical analysis of the different counties and districts throughout the state of kentucky, donald trump will win this. he's winning by close to 35 points. that gives donald trump the electoral vote from the state of kentucky. that's eight electoral votes for him from this state. fox news project

so errol, indiana governor mike pence goes to indiana along with president-elect trump and somehow convinces carrier to keep most of its operations in the united states. so, why couldn't governor pence do that when he was governor of indiana? >> that's a very good question, carol. the devil is going to be in the details. christine is right. this may all be a matter of using existing state promise. it may be the taxpayers of indiana, in fact, who saved these jobs rather than federal government. we're not sure what happened. it's also important to keep in mind that the union that represents many of the workers there, when asked by reporters, said that he was absolutely in the dark, that they were not a part of this conversation at all. and that has implications for their benefits, for their retirement, for whether or not those jobs are going to be back-filled. there are a lot of questions about this i think before we can start throwing confetti. >> okay. so, iville a jurisdiction of power alert to share with my viewers. steve mnuchin is officially now trump's choice for treasury secretary and

do people from indiana see this as truly a victory? >> well, it's certainly a victory in indianapolis. we are talking about to a thousand workers who would have lost their jobs in the coming years otherwise so it's a big deal from that perspective for sure. >> a thousand jobs are i guess presumably still going to mexico. do you or does anyone at the paper know what sort of incentive the president-elect offered carrier to keep the other half of jobs in indiana? >> that's a great question. we don't have the full details. i did talk to a member of the state's economic development board earlier today and he suggested it would be in line with what they offered other companies. in 2013 they offered about 200,000 in training grants to the company. a related company further north in indiana got 300,000 more recently so it may be in that ballpark that we're talking about. >> do you know how much of a role mike pence played in all of this? >> i mean, i think for trump it's been very convenient having a vice presidential candidate who also still
