i'm tamron hall. coming to you live from our msnbc headquarters in new york where this time next week, millions of americans will be headed to the polls to cast their vote for the next president of the country. speaking of millions, here are some new numbers to digest today. more than 26 million votes have already now been cast. that's nationwide. and our new nbc news survey monkey weekly tracking poll shows hillary clinton with a 6 point lead over donald trump nationally. now, our poll finds clinton's 6 point lead at exactly the same time as comey's on friday but according to republicans, may be related to the investigation of secretary clinton's private server. a new iposos poll showing with a lead, little change from the same poll last thursday but a new "washington post" abc news tracking poll out this morning shows donald trump with a 1 point lead nationally. a reverse in the 1 point lead secretary clinton had in the same tracking poll the past two days and a whopping 13 point swing for trump in

tamron? >> with congress obviously not being there, this name, this individual has been in the ether, in the buzz for days. it's knot as if sooteve bannon just popped up. is there influence in the transition team or official part of the president-elect's team? >> reporter: not as i've been hearing because he's part of the trump campaign and therefore, not a surprise in terms of his role. now that this is an official role and it would be a government job with a government paycheck, you're seeing some of the outside groups raise questions about this and it's at a time when there are choices to be made and donald trump as president-elect could choose someone else for such a role or other jobs to fill so to go off the starting blocks with two names, one that's being pretty widely embraced although there are those who are from the insurgent movement associated with donald trump who thought reince priebus was too inside and then all of these issues about the judgment and the views of steve bannon.

good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tamron. three long weeks ago, sherry papini went for a run and never came home. her community came to find the missing mother of two. people called in tips, over 400 tips came to investigators while investigators searched dozens and dozens of miles all the while her family never gave up hope that she would be found safe and alive. 34-year-old sherry papini described by her family as a super mom. this morning, once again surrounded by those she loves. >> sherry papini located and reunited with her husband and family on this day of thanksgiving. >> reporter: papini found at 4:30 in the morning 150 miles from where investigators believe she was abducted while out jogging over three weeks ago. >> she was bound with restraints. but was able to summon help from a passing motorist on i-5 near county road 17. >> reporter: now the mother of two is recovering with her family by her side. for weeks, the community had come together to search for any sign of papini after her husband reported her missing.

>> two things, tamron, to pass along here. first of all, it appears from all the indications that we've seen that whatever happened there is over. they're now just going through checking the building that, that main building where this happened, the watts hall, medical engineering sciences building to make sure nobody else was involved but does appear the thinking is now whatever happened there is over. just to recap here, 9:56 this morning, it was active shooter but we are not certain that the injuries sustained by the students on the campus were in fact gunshot wounds. there's some conflicting word on that that's reached the federal officials that this may have been an attack with a large might have or a machete. not a gun. so we don't know whether these are, and it could be both. but we are not confident to say that despite the initial report of an active shooter and of course, that's the word that would go out anyway if there was any kind of attack on students, that's the generic attack. the word that goes out or warning.

tamron hall picking things up now. >> thank you, craig. good morning, everyone. coming to you live from our election headquarters in new york. it is a seismic upset. donald trump elected as the 45th president of these united states. it was a trifecta. republicans also maintaining control the house and senate. right now, we are waiting for hillary clinton. these are live pictures. we're waiting for secretary clinton to address her supporters and the nation after this stunning loss. she'll make her remarks at a hotel here in new york. not very far from trump tower in fact. she just left the separate hotel where she spent the night. and should be at the location within minutes we're told. president-elect trump declared victory around 3:00 eastern time this morning. after, we're told, secretary clinton called him to concede. >> she congratulated us. it's about us. on our victory. and i congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard-fought campaign. hillary has worked very long and very hard. over a long period of time. and we owe her a major debt of gratitude
