minneapolis 16. chicago 25. philadelphia much more comfortable at 43 degrees. so as we go hour by hour, it's going to stay dry in philadelphia through the overnight for sure maybe a few spotty snow showers along ocean and monmouth counties as this coastal low departs all eyes on this, it's a clipper after 7:00 o'clock tomorrow morning, moving into lehigh valley and philadelphia bye-bye 9:00 or 10:00. a little bit of a squall line associated with it. a few waves of snow moving through and then by the five, 6:00 o'clock hour, you can see that heavier snow band moving into south jersey and eventually just moving off the coast. so it's not a lot but it's enough to create some slippery roads. temperatures will be around freezing though. so not much sticking to the warmer ground. but main the on the grassy surfaces with temperatures borderline. you can see possibility of a coating to up to philadelphia and then heading toward an inch in pottstown. in the poconos up to an inch in reading and in lancaster as well. so not a lot of moisture with this. so temperatures ove

it has been a cold, cold day and minneapolis is five. chicago, 16. 42 in new orleans. we didn't he was snow on the gulf of mexico yesterday. and there was snow in tallahassee, florida, first time in 28 years they had snow in town. you can see there's a system beginning to wrap up. and what they mean again when they say it bonds out is it's rapid intensification. what it's doing is it's going to take on what we call a negative tilt. that is absolutely textbook to see a system develop in northeaster and that's going to wrap up and as it does, it's not just the blizzard conditions that are possible, certainly in new england, but the waves especially as it tracks over water. if it tracks west, it will get more snow. the wind could be 60 to 70 mile an hour wind. huge. if it's not a winter weather ada winter storm warning or a blizzard warning. they're looking for a foot in boston, so i'm sure that will be the major story over the next 48 hours. we had a minor story so far. the negative ions [indiscernible] showing up on the windchills around here. and finally rain has made

minneapolis around 4. chicago at 26. but even down around north florida, the 50s widespread. of course we're talking about 60 million people across the midwestern united states that are underneath winter weather advisories. the coverage of snow once again. it is quite widespread. but generally 2 to 4 inches. a few spots 6 inches of snow. down towards the south, tuned in across portions of houston, san antonio, even dallas not depicted well on this model. all of these areas could see ice accumulating into the overnight hours of tuesday. monday into tuesday, i should say. the cold air really begins to seep farther south the middle of the week. we're looking for a trend of warmer temp beyond that by the time you get wednesday afternoon, the temperatures bottom out places like atlanta. only six times in the last two decades has atlanta failed to make it to 30. it's going to get close to it on wednesday afternoon. high temps there. and notice how quickly it climbs up into the middle 60s the upcoming weekend. i want to show you what is happening quickly as far as what is going on r

we'll have high temperatures finally above freezing from chicago to minneapolis, philly right on the dot freezing but boston a high of 35. and more warmth building across the south. the jet stream will retreat farther to the north as we get towards the second half of the workweek. that means milder temperatures. we'll be running by thursday 10 to 20 degrees above average. but we have to get through another winter weather advisory, across the midwest and the ohio valley where from st. louis, indianapolis, pittsburgh to philly you have an advisory through monday. we're talking snow, ice, freezing rain and also some rain farther to the south but it is a wintry mess here that will move across the mid section of the country through monday evening. so about a quarter of an inch of ice accumulation can be expected across louisville, charlotte, atlanta, at least a 109 of an inch of ice accumulation, on top of it, about one to three inches of snow fall across the midwest. out in california we're also watching a situation there as a potent rain system moves in. that will bring a chance elaine
