right now we are on lehigh street in allentown. we've been seeing salt trucks going up and down for several hours. salt truck drivers started their shift around 8:00 tonight. of course, we talked to a whole lot of folks tonight. they say, "here we go again." what do you think about the snowstorm that is coming? >> march is no good. >> reporter: joe heller has been through a snowstorm or two. he is assaulting his driveway and sidewalk near jefferson in allentown. the 81-year-old tells nbc10 he has no fear about a second major storm on the way. are you scared about this storm at all? >> no. i'm too old to be scared. >> reporter: allentown's 48 trucks hit the street hours before the snow fell tonight. we are told drivers will work 12 hour shifts around the clock until the snow is cleared from streets. >> last friday was not a fun situation. >> reporter: at a nearby gas station, scott gaumer was getting ready for the morning commute, already sick of march weather. close by, another man was focused on tomorrow as well. he was filling hi

not too bad. 17 in pottstown, 17 in allentown. you start to see these winds stepping up. 24 in pottstown. also notice the rain/snow line starting to collapse down to the south. so that's your change over. doesn't mean it'll stick right away, but that means your visibility will be reduced by snowflakes. by lunchtime today the change over to snow all the way to montgomery county right now, wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. as you can see 50, 60, 65 miles per hour possible along with blowing snow. the morning commute in many areas, it's do-able. the evening commute will be a real tough one here especially with the strong wind gusts and snow. down at the shore again we have multiple threats going on. this go around we're talking about the rain and the wind. so the rain moves out as you can see here during the morning hours it lightens mup. this is an hour by hour situation. these storms are very dynamic. just be careful here. we may see reduced visibility even down at the shore as we get down to this evening. and we're looking at wi

allentown mayor ed pawlowski emotional. his wife okay and by his side after paramedics were called after she collapsed leaving court. along with an attorney, they said nothing about any resignation plans. >> we're extremely disappointed. we thought we presented a case that showed the mayor's innocence. >> reporter: soon the fourth-term democrat will have no choice. city rules will force him from the position once he's sentenced. the trial lasted more than a month but the prosecution painting the mayor as corrupt, accused of trading city contracts for campaign donations. out of the 54 counts, the jury found him guilty of 47. >> all they needed to do was convict him of one for him to lose his job as mayor, and they found 47, so that's a potential for significant time behind bars. >> reporter: caught in the middle of all this, the people of allentown. a city in the midst of a comeback when all this happened. >> the community i think, whatever happened here today, still was pretty well served by mayor pawlowski. >> reporter: on

so you can see here, allentown , nothing yet. probably going to get wallopped the worse with double digit snowfall likely maybe a foot or even better, and it is the heavy wet snow. so i'll leave with you this, again, karen, thomas, two warnings: this snow causes double dangers. number one if you're shoveling , it is the heavy kind that causes cents heart attacks. i always say treat it like a hockey game. do your sidewalk in three different periods. take two long rest breaks inbetween, don't overdo it. secondly, if you've got bigger walk, and got snow blower, this is the kind that jams, and you don't want to unjam it , without shutting off with your hands. and all do you have do, i googled yesterday, looking for cartoon picture, to warn people about that, but i saw real life pictures, and some horendous us injuries from people unjam g their snow blower. do not do that today. this is that kind of snow, don't get tempted to do it. >> don't even do it with your foot if you have boots on, use the thing they give you. don't do anything

we have a 32 miles an hour wind in philadelphia, 25 in millville, 29 in allentown, 22 in lancaster. the wind will keep up overnight and even during the day. gusts at least 25. look at the current snow cover, not much to the west. this storm is going to change that, we have an area of low pressure that blizzard conditions in dakotas. and will that will move through chicago and redevelop off the cost. where exactly where it redevelop, we call this a miller type b storm. thigh area of low pressures, this one goes away and then moves up eastern sea board. not a lot of cold air, we will start off with rain and change over snow who gets the most. rain shower looks like possibly three to six inches of snow, who gets the most snow is still going to be up in the air, depending on where that storm lines up. timing is tuesday night into wednesday. so wednesday looks like the stormy day, the storm is out by is that your signature, tracking the midatlantic coast through the philadelphia area, temperatures borderline once again 30's and 40's. with temperatures falling when the storm moves away. t

blue bell 34, allentown 35, trenton 34. it melts on the roads but when it's snowing real hard and you have wind gusts to 60 miles an hour, you can't see and so it's still dangerous even if the roads are not snow covered. gusts of 53 miles an hour in dover right now. 44 in atlantic city, 43 in philadelphia and in allentown. that is pretty nasty and as we go through the afternoon we see areas of that heavier snow spreading to the south. some of it getting into delaware but delaware will get hit is least compared to other parts of our area. you also notice the temperature not going below freezing. so as soon as the snowfall lightens up you'll see more and more of it melt and then the visibility gets better but it's still windy out there so any snow is going to be blowing around all night and into the morning, not cooling down that much. so we're not going to see everything ice over and the snow is going to be melting wherever it's piling up because temperatures will be in the 40s tomorrow. it's going to be windy. we have wind

it looks to be dry in allentown, and south jersey. it will take a while for this system to get going. by 9:00 could you see light rain and wintry mix over philadelphia. overnight we'll have more widespread pretiptation and that will set us up for a messy commute for wednesday. as we get into the afternoon, that's when we start to see the steady, heavy snow coming dund our temperatures also dropping. cold enough to support the snow, especially for parts of allentown, reading, pottstown, philadelphia still close to mid-30s around noon but that rain/snow line continues to sink to the south so millville at noon will see a chance of of a wintry mix. this continues through your evening commute. 6:00 we have steady snow from mount holly, philadelphia, pottstown, allentown and a rain/snow line gets all wait down to atlantic city. parts of the show like cape may could only see rainfall with this system, you, but we will still see wind speeds close to 40 miles per hour as you're trying to get home fro work. the next thing you'll see right aroun

so look at the 48 in allentown, the 42 in atlantic city. pottstown at 45, reading at 46. this does not support snow. we'll see it begin august rain showers. even though you see snow in williamsport, a lot of this is not hitting the ground unless you see the darker bands of green. we're not seeing it hit the ground yet. it's starting to make its way through the atmosphere. it's evaporating. we sent storm ranger out, because it's -- and some of the moisture aloft. it's a bit of a mix into lancaster county. the temperatures are still too watch. you can see snow making its way, and the cold air is wrapping around the system, and wisconsin, and the main body is making its way up the coast. the rain showers are -- we could see a mix, and the lehigh valley. if you're in pottstown, read yegg doyletown you may be able to so, but if you're in cape may, atlantic city, you'll by looking at rain with a mix. by 9:00 in the morning, that snow line starts to move look at these numbers are we're down to freezing. not in south jersey, but we do get a burst, and you could see a quick snow s

allentown. we're into that first alert for the entire area through 10:00 a.m. this morning. i wouldn't be surprised if we decide to extend it through the shore through tomorrow morning. take a look at what we're expecting. gusts around 35 to 45 miles per hour. the higher end is through the morning and then the mid 30s in the afternoon. now, that's not nearly as strong as it was yesterday. but this is strong enough that things that were weakened yesterday could break off this morning leading to more falling debris, trees, things like that. watch out where you are this morning even though things are going to look better than they did. still could have the wind threat. coastal flatting also. the wind advisory is in place across our region. through our pennsylvania neighborhoods through 6:00 a.m. this morning. this is expiring soon. that wind advisory lasts through noon. a little longer farther south. this wind advisory because of the fact that the gusts are still strong enough to knock things around. on top of that, a coastal flood warning. delaware beaches and along the jersey
