morgan radford, nbc news. >>> from the west to the east coast where the nra is suing florida over its new gun law. the state's republican-controlled legislature passed the measures in response to the mass shooting in stoneman douglas that killed 17 people and ignited a national debate about gun control and safety in our schools. nbc's maya rodriguez has a closer look at this new battle. >> reporter: barely a day old, florida's new gun law is already facing a federal lawsuit. the national rifle association sued the state citing florida's decision to raise the legal age to buy a rifle from 18 to 21. in a statement, the nra said, quote, florida's ban is an affront to the second amendment as it totally eviscerates the right of law-abiding adults between ages of 18 to 21 to bear and keep arms. the new gun law comes almost a month after 17 people were gunned down at marjory stoneman does has high school. students from there leading a movement to address school safety and put new gun restrictions in place. amidst the political pressure governor rick scott signed the bill, despite having an a

nbc's morgan radford has the story. >> reporter: the legend, going back to the civil war, has echoed to this day. somewhere in pennsylvania a union shipment of gold heading from west virginia to harrisburg went missing. the wagons and dead soldiers found at the time, but 52 bars of gold, today worth $55 million, vanished. it was long dismissed as a myth, but this past week a team of fbi agents showed up in a state forest at dents run, just two hours north of pittsburgh, and started digging. professional treasure hunters like eric schmidt were surprised. >> i'm very, very, very certain the fbi has never gone outlooking for treasure before. >> reporter: the government's search in pennsylvania comes after a group called finders keepers says it actually found the location of the gold using a high-powered metal detector back in 2004. they wanted to dig, but the state department of conservation and natural resources wouldn't let them. a law enforcement official tells nbc news they went to dented run after a tip there was federal gold at the site. but upon digging they found nothing. >> jus

nbc's morgan radford has details. >> reporter: all she wanted was a baby. >> just thinking about the possibility of having a kid and then having that taken away from you. >> reporter: now she is joining one of two lawsuits filed against university hospital in cleveland after a storage tank in the fertility center malfunctioned potentially impacting at least 2100 frozen eggs and embryos. speaking to the "today" show she froze her eggs after she got cancer and had a hysterectomy which left her unable to have a child. >> our embryos are lost so it feels like a whole other loss. >> reporter: this cleveland lawyer says his film will be filing one of the lawsuits on behalf of several patients. >> what we can do is hold the hospital accountable so it never happens again. >> reporter: in response to the lawsuit, the hospital says we understand why some people might feel compelled to take this step. any lawsuits being filed will have no bearing on the independent review being conducted. the staff noticed last week that temperature had increased in the storage tank filled with liquid nitrogen.

nbc's morgan radford is in yonkers, new york, for us. hi, morgan. good morning again. >> reporter: good morning. more than 400,000 people are waking up this morning across the northeast still without any power. that's why cleanup crews have been working around the clock. you can see areas like this, where the downed power lines have already fallen. this area has been roped off, snow still on the ground. it is zones like this that authorities have say have proven deadly in some cases. an 88-year-old woman died after she was struck by a tree. and a man died when his car was engulfed in flames after striking a live wire. as officials are trying to clean up areas like this, the residents say the power outage is the biggest problem. many of the xhucommunities in yonkers have been without power since last week. they've been disappointed with how slow they feel the response has been. that's why 40 people have already been deployed by the national guard to help clean up the situation here in new york and try to get that power restored. 70 workers have been
