abc 7 news reporter -- the district attorney from five california counties sat down today, and abc 7 news reporter laura anthony is live with the story. >> reporter: hi, dan, h kristen, it took the judge 18 minutes to read through all of these charges, each of these 26 counts carries a possible life sentence for deangelo as for the defendant. he stared straight ahead. the entire time. >> and with malice aforethought murdered deborah -- >> reporter: joseph deangelo stood stone faced as the judge in the sacramento courtroom read through 26 felony counts, half of them for murders in the 1980s that often included rape and the use of a knife or gun. >> count 25, contra costa county -- >> reporter: after 13 murders, the judge read through 13 additional felonies, each aggravated kidnapping for robbery, cases investigators say included rapes but not charged as such because of the statute of limitations. >> deangelo could face four life seasons plus ten years. >> reporter: four of those cases happened in contra costa county in the 1970s, the 72-year-old deangelo was silent at the hearing. but

abc 7 news anchor eric thomas is live in alameda with the latest. eric? >> reporter: and kristen, that fatal attack happened right outside the family's restaurant. at the front door here in alameda. one of the suspects made a court appearance today. the other one is scheduled to appear tomorrow morning. these are the two suspects, 29-year-old dante holloway of oakland. alameda police say this surveillance video shows the two tring to rob 62-year-old cindy lee of her purse outside the restaurant she owned on webster night. on. the two when followed lee and her husband, in california, laying in wait before a murder is a special circumstance that can carry with it the death penalty. police further say holloway attacked with a metal pipe as lee and her daughter's boyfriend struggled with them. paez is accused of punching her, resulting in a fatal head wound. the family released a statement today saying in part we have heard the suspects have been arrested this news only begins to give us a small sense of closure. our family is still grieving over the sudden a

abc 7 news. >> such big hearts. today apple ceo tim cook made a pledge of support to fire victims tweeting, "we are saddened by the loss of life and devastation in the california wildfires. apple will be donated to relief efforts to help those in need. we thank the brave firefighters working so hard and risking their lives to contain the flames." >>> a third massive wildfire burning now for 23 days jumped highway 41 yesterday, entering yosemite national park and forcing the evacuation of all nonessential workers from yosemite valley. crews downgraded containment to 36% and the fire grew by 3,500 acres to 126 square miles. yosemite national park says yosemite will remain closed to all visitors through tomorrow night due to unhealthy smoke and firefighting operations. the weather is a big factor. let's check in with mike nicco with a look at the conditions. mike? >> hi, everybody. unfortunately what came to fruition is what we talked about yesterday. the winds did pick up, the humidity levels did a lot of t jeopardy.
