and in january, senator chuck grassley requested that the department of defense give all information, basically audit through the inspector general all of these contracts, those contracts began in september 2016 and focused on various topics such as china and other issues, remember that it was george papadopoulos who was asked by stefan halper to actually go to london and help him research some of this. it was the $3,000 that he paid to george papadopoulos as he lured him to london with the money that came from the dod. what senator grassley discovered when the audit came through lass week was that there was so much missing. so much information who stefan halper was dealing with in that assessment. what was going on, how are these contracts awarded? there was real, significant missing information in these audits.tr and the inspector general laid it out. so now, senator grassley wants the office of that assessment to brief the committee in detail about the relationship with stefan halper, and he also wants any information pertaining to halper. what was noted in the opposite of that ass

joining me now, our chuck rosenberg and our fbi official and our ken dilanian. what's the significance of hicks and do you think legal exposure there? >> clarify that. >> i think it makes sense to have her come back like what she said, based on what i have seen andrea. i am not sure she's in any real legal jeopardy and here is why. i don't think the questioning was precise. you have to have extraordinary precise questioning and frankly members of congress are not known for that. i ask someone whether they are present is different than asking them do they have any communications or were they on the phone or e-mailing or hear about it secondhand. there are ten different ways to ask a question. it is not clear to me that hope hicks testify falsely. to have her back and clarify and ask for additional questions is certainly a good idea. >> and when we think about the mueller testimony this week and anticipation of this, of course it has been, we are going to see a lot more and of course we got our excellent documentary previewing at 9:00 on msnbc on sunday night. can

chuck, you first here. how strong a case does the judiciary committee have to try to get this material, and is this how you would go about it? >> they have a reasonably strong case. think about this on the spectrum, alex. on the far left side, you want the grand jury investigation at a mere curiosity, and you want the grand jury information because it's in connection with a judicial proceeding. so the further you are on that spectrum to being in connection with the judicial proceeding, the more likely you are to win. and that's the case law, and that's the federal rules of criminal procedure. so what the democrats will argue is that they need the grand jury information because it's connected to a judicial proceeding, in this case, an impeachment inquiry. i think they ever a tolerable claim. >> what testimony do you think the judiciary would have given the mueller report? >> i'm glad you asked that question because the mueller report was very lightly redacted. there isn't all that much that's missing, partic
