we have kron 4 chief meteorologist lawrence karnow standing by with a look at what is ahead. yeah guys it looks like we're going to see some drier some warmer weather ahead. but we're not done with the rain this week we've got the chance showers on the way out there right now. >>certainly a lot of clouds stuart half moon bay. the wind's been with that along the coastline and elsewhere around the bay area seeing those winds kind of picking up as well you see out there right now call people out there all been love out there for a walk along the beach certainly cold out there on the coastline with the winds out there as well. temperatures today, running below the average in san francisco 55 degrees 61. in oakland 62 for a high in san jose 59 and the more 63 in concord and 63 degrees in santa rosa rainfall totals wanted to give you an idea of where we stand the date now we've had a series of storms coming through, although they've not been very large, but certainly adding to our totals we're now at almost 7 inches of rain that's 43% of normal in san francisco, san jose chicken an

karnow as a look ahead lawrence yeah, almost spring-like out there today guys lot of sunshine and those temperatures warming up very nicely you can look out there over the bay certainly gorgeous today tomorrow be prepared we've got winter making a return and is going to pack a little bit of a punch see the storm system just off the coastline, right there that will be the one. >>that is impacting the bay area by tomorrow and so starting to pick up but by the middle of the day in the north bay this time now for you on our computer model you can see overnight tonight. we'll see some increasing clouds but staying dry so tomorrow morning. you drive early in the morning should be a problem not expecting much in the way of rain then as we head toward the middle of the day there you see it the rain begins to move in around 12 o'clock or so maybe the few showers out ahead of that in the morning in the north bay and then sagging to the south throughout the day so pretty soggy by the afternoon. the main from public coming through right around 5 6 o'clock in the evening to the heart of the bay area

and now it's time to check the weather here in the bay area from forging meteorologist lawrence karnow joins us with a look ahead we're talking about some rain make a little return to the bay area today, lot of sunshine and then the clouds start to roll in late today we can see. >>more of those clouds overnight tonight, the good news is we get a little cloud cover that's going keep the temperature up just a little bit so when i couldn't get down to freezing like we did early this morning, some of the north bay valleys out there right now overlooking san francisco nice evening out there right now couple high clouds moving in overhead. doppler radar tracking some moisture just off the coastline lot high clouds out there but not much to worry about as far as rain is concerned just yet i think it's going take a while really for to get here. we have seen the winds though kicking up a most that has been that offshore wind you see that coming out of the north and snowmen 13 miles an hour in the north in mill valley at 1718 miles an hour and a san francisco is that offshore wind that brought t

>>i'm meteorologist lawrence karnow skies cleared out around the bay area today but >>well tonight. there's an effort to provide a non police public safety program in oakland's chinatown is comes of course in the wake of several acts of violence against members of the bay area's asian-american community force has my view on has the story. >>you know obviously what we've been seeing especially social media has been provoking. just a lot of care and compassion. but also alarmed because some of these incidents have been very violent and reviving a community-based public safety solutions like oakland's chinatown community ambassadors program they help deter some of that violence that is why oakland city council president nikki fortunato bass is leading an effort for the ambassadors to return one of the ways that we're showing what community-driven safety looks like. >>building relationships with merchants with neighbors escorting seniors to their appointments. picking up litter cleaning up graffiti and really just being a constant presence so that community members know whom they can go

>>now let's check on our 4 zone forecast and kron four's chief meteorologist lawrence karnow lawrence you've been tracking this terrible storm, it's had so much of the country. yeah, it's unbelievable how cold it's been you know usually get the cold you're used to that. >>but boy all the way down to texas they see temperatures -2 in dallas that was a record for them all time there and they're still going to be bitter cold they're not coming out of freezing mark for days tonight, these temperatures really plummeting again overnight lows in dallas, you're looking to 20 degrees oklahoma city 9 degrees 80 in kansas city to 6 in minneapolis. and looks like by tomorrow afternoon the cold temperatures just kind of hanging out really nothing to move them along right now so all that cold air continues to plunge to the deep south there only and have a high and it's going to be below freezing dallas of 29 degrees tomorrow afternoon so on top of that we're seeing all that cold air that continues drop through the plains all that poor air slides all the way to the south now it's beginning to run in
