nbc bay area's bob redell joins us live. a lot at stake here. >> correct. good morning, kris. what's at stake is whether or not alameda county should use taxpayer money to help the oakland a's pay for infrastructure around their proposed terminal stadium deal. this is where they are proposing to build their new stadium. as you can see, the alameda county board of supervisors is meeting virtually. they're in closed session, but when they do return, the board could vote on a nonbinding resolution to earmark millions of dollars of future tax revenue to help the a's pay for parts, affordable housing and orth-site infrastructure at the howard terminal site. this would be nonbinding. the board would be saying it is their intent to do this. the a's want to move out of the coliseum which is old and deteriorating. but while oakland mayor libby shack is confident there will be a yes vote, she thinks inaction on this resolution or a no vote will indicate to major league baseball that there is not a path forward for the a's in oakland. the mayor says without the county's participation, th

ian cull, nbc bay area news. >>> a landmark moment today. governor newsom announcing that california will be the first state in the nation to require covid vaccinations for all public and private cool students. the mandate will be rolled out in two phases. the first impacting those in grades 7 to 12. and the second those in kindergarten to sixth grade. it all depends on when it will be phased in on the fda granting full approval to the vaccination. the earliest the mandate would take effect would be january of 2022. so in a couple of months. but it could be as late as next july. the governor also pointing out that mandatory vaccinations are nothing new. california schools require ten of them including measles, mumps, rubella and varicella. no shortage of opinions on today's decisions. some say it is wrong to take the choice out of the parents hands. some others say the governor is moving too slowly. >> if they feel safe being vaccinated. if they feel safe that their going the vaccinate their children, more power to you. but i personally, and

this is nbc bay area news tonight. and i'm jessica aguirre. so what's it going to take to vaccinate 28 million kids? tonight we have some answers. both the white house and parts of the bay area laying out the plan for children 5 to 11. now, that rollout may be just weeks away. but first the vaccine has to be officially approved. the fda's meeting october 26, the cdc follows november second. final decision expected shortly after that. likely within days. now, the smaller doses which come in special packaging which include smaller needles will go out within hours of that formal approval. they'll be shipped to health departments, pediatricians's office, pharmacies and in some cases even schools. the white house says it's been in the planning for months. >> in the era of delta, children get infected as readily as adults do, and they transmit the infection as readily as the adults do. >> so, what does that rollout look like specifically for us here in the bay area? well, sonoma county provided a glimpse for us. health department says it's preparing
