around the beltway it is looking pretty good in northern virginia. vdot has been out all night long with the snow removal truck and the salt brine trucks. they have been out and melting the conditions and as you can see on the roads they are actually wet. all of the snow is gone from the main roads. and a lot of minor roads have been treated, as well. and the neighborhood, the side streets, you know from saturday those roads probably weren't -- they may not have gotten to those areas. so you are potentially going to have problems on my own street we had a school bus stopped for two hours yesterday, even before the snow started to fall. those are the conditions folks should expect. if you are going to clean out your car, getting ready to go to work, we want to tell you the snow is very light and fluffy. this is great snowball weather. fur going to stick around with the kids, if the kids have off, a great day to make snowmen and maybe snowball fights. something to think of later today. as for now, tysons corner, snow is no longer falling. back to you.

inside the beltway and just north of town, around bethesda and chevy chase, around east- west highway, very heavy banding. around silver spring and chevy chase, out river road. here's the east-west highway. very heavy snow there and also on the beltway from greenbelt down to lanham and over to fedex field. we have no shortage of snow, but as howard mentioned last night the signature will be wind and i think that is undeniable. the back edge of the precipitation is right here but it is not moving. we will watch that carefully. it will pull to the north and east. it will taper off today. look at the wind gusts. this is a bad sign. gusting to 46 miles an hour best of town. that is blizzard conditions now. 32-mile an hour wind gusts at national and they are going to get stronger as we on. visibilities in some spots under a quarter mile. and that is the definition of the blizzard. to the north, quarter mile in gaithersburg, quarter mile in frederick. less than a quarter mile in dulles and a quarter mile in fredericksburg. especially where the band of snow is really where the blizzard condi

the beltway has been plowed a few times. still consult. cars getting stranded. we've seen a number of tow trucks. let's compare this to side streets. these are side streets in bethesda. cars taken off the street into driveways, trying to get out of the way so that the streets can be plowed. so thn can get some clearance to be able to drive. some only have a few tire tracks. trees and limbs are full of snow. wind hits them. those are the conditions on side streets. even the main thoroughfares. i many driving with a portable mi microwave on top of an suv. very difficult driving. we have a portable microwave sending a signal back. take a look at wisconsin avenue as we are approaching chevy chase now. you are going to have a difficult time finding any people on the streets. there are very few. in bethesda, there are bars and restaurants open, but very few people in the area. we are coming up to a hotel here in chevy chase. i'll stop at the light. difficult driving conditions. you have to be courteous and make sure you give yourself time to stop at the light. these a
