we always talk about this in d.c. whether or not we will get the rain or snow or we will get a combination of both. i think for a time this warm air will just touch the district. it may come over for a little bit. so, probably 8:00, 9:00 we may have mixing taking place through the district. but as that begins to shift to the east of us, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 tonight, that's when we will get the very heavy snowfall amounts, 1, 2, maybe more than that snow inches per hour. that is very heavy snow. but, again, that is what we are watching now. that's the latest. this is why we hve been projecting such a fall off in the snowfall accumulations down as sue mentioned to the south and east. we will watch the trend for a couple hours. if you are a snow lover rooting for a foot or two, don't worry. ultimately i think the cold air wis for d.c. we will end up where mostly snow from this event. back over to you. >> gary, thank you very much. >>> we are staying tuned to your every word. >> you know, i was at a local snow board ski sh

i was just in hog d.c. a few months ago and i was at this thing and there were all these policy wonks, you know, and education specialists and they were like change takes decades, change is incremental. change does not take decades. a change is not incremental. we don't have time for that anymore. ask any mom who has a 4-year-old and she will tell you she does not have seven years for her neighborhood school to turnaround. she does not have the stomach to please a lottery. she does not have the money to pay for private school, assuming she can get in and ever eat out again, right? we don't have time for that. but i do know that the time is right for this. when i was in d.c. i met with valvista eckert it centers on the education committee. when they are done with health care which is what, like two more weeks? then there's going to be climate change and hope we just a little bit more stuff and when that happens, education is next on the docket, and when that happens, the whole country is going to be talking

temperature wise we have the temperatures near the freezing mark, 32 for baltimore, the same for d.c. we saw the changeover shortly, just a short time ago. 30 degrees in hagueer hagerstowd 30 degrees in oakland. here is what we're watching with the frontal air behind it. the high pressure dries out the skies but here is what is coming your way. the low pressure center that will be coming up the eastern seaboard and the question is will it take a turn east and head out to sea or will it come up the coast? i if i think the first scenario moving out to the west is less favorable than the computer models coming up the coast. when that happens, you know that you get all of the snow toward the biggest part of the cities from boston through philadelphia where we are, of course, down through d.c., too, and cold air in place and a lot of moisture coming our way. that is why we think there could be heavier snow falls total. most hely cloudy witmostly withr wind. turning partly cloudy 35 degrees with a 5-10-mile-an-hour wind. it looks better later in the day than the way things started out earli

no stations reporting anything reaching the ground quite in d.c. the evidence of what appears to be some snow but taking a little bit of time before it moves in for later in the day. as you take a scan you can see down to the south and east a lot of moisture in hour direction and thunderstorms in the gulf coast direction. for us, it's all of that snow that is coming our way and picking up in intensity the more we move into the latter part of the day and overnight. the high pressure moves in for later this morning for the southern counties as in the afternoon for the central counties. we will continue to watch the move more easterly today so it's going to take more of a west to east track. we thought it would take more of an east track. that will increase totals for some of you that are in the eastern shore compared to what we were thinking yesterday. still the heaviest snow expect to be to the west where we will see as much as 18 to 25 inches of snow on the west side of the chesapeake bay. 12-18 inches with 6 inches or more for the southern part of
