live in vienna, kimberly suiters, news4. back to you. >> let's go back to tracee wilkins in northwest washington with a look at how the roads are there. tracee, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, eun. i was saying what a difference a ha hour makes. we have definitely had an inch of snow here in northwest washington since i first spoke with you. taking a look down at the sidewalk. this is mor than a covering now. this is becoming measurable. in fact, it's also becoming visible. take a look over here outside the cvs, we have workers out here already shoveling the snow in front of the cvs, taking care of some of the snow that was left over from the previous storm. with that walkway being covered, they were taking care of that snow as well. yes, we have digable, measurable snow in northwest. let's take a look out here at the roads. now, i've been seeing plows come back and forth on these roads since we've been out here this morning. i'm going to get out here so you can see what i'm talking about here. with the plows coming

we're going to go to kimberly suiters, where she's been out in vienna all day long, begging for food -- i mean, observing the conditions, as they are out there. >> she did find a couple places open, and hopefully you are well fed, kimberly. how you doing? >> reporter: i'm doing great! we just talked to this great lady over here who's from slovakia and she's trying to fly out of vienna, virginia, trying to get to vienna, austria. of course, her flight was canceled. but the people of vienna have been great. a lot of the businesses were open. the pharmacy was open, mcgruder's, the grocery store, the vienna inn for breakfast, starbucks just closed. we had a great coffee thi morning. but take a look at these conditions. this is what people are dealing with this morning in vienna. take a look, also, at some video from earlier today, oh, about an hour ago. a nice family pulled in, they wanted to show us the chains on their tires. they swear by them, they say, look, this is a public service deal. we want people to know that this is the only way to get aroundn this storm. listen in to what br

i'm kimberly suiters. here's a look at what's making news thimorning. assessing the situation in chile this morning, a little more than 24 hours after that powerful earthquake, at least 214 people have died in the magnitude 8.8 quake. about 500,000 homes were badly damaged. the earthquake triggered fears of tsunamis across the pacific, including hawaii, but waves were milder than expected and the pacific tsunami warning center lifted a tsunami warning early this morning. >>> an active duty marine is behind bars this morning, accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint earlier this month. authorities arrested jorge george torres at henderson hall yesterday. he's also a suspect of yesterday's abduction and assault of two arlington women. >>> and the face of the new white house social secretary, julianna smoot, she's currently chief of staff to ron kirk. smoot will be taking over for desiree rogers, who plans on going back to the corporate world. rogers was criticized for not doing more to prevent unauthorized guests from attending last year's state dinner. chu
