over to rick santelli. >> thanks, hamp. we saw january new home sales and you didn't see them at a very favorable light. down 11.2%. seasonally adjusted annualized unit rate of 309,000. that's down from a slightly upward revision, 348,000. that number for december revised from down 7.6 to down 3.9. so no matter how you slice this, it really isn't good news. now, putting together what hamp said, what ben said, and what the housing numbers are doing, we see that the yield curve is mostly moving in two-year note yields. they moved up several basis points. they were already elevated several basis points. so it seems as though the fed or potentially giving more clarity on exit is the driving force in the market and without any of that at least in the text i've heard so far you might see a little buying going on in the short maturities. now let's zip over to mary thompson. >> thank you, rick. the sec's commissioners will vote on short selling curves today. a new rule that issuer advisory group dubbed uptick light. short sales won

rick santelli here. as you look at these one-month charts of 2s and 10s, we're basically at the lowest yields in about three years for both two-year and ten-year. if you look at the difference, taking away two-year note yields from ten dwleerks note curve, it's gone from historically wide, over 294 intraday basis points just a week ago to a 4 1/2-week narrow under 280. now there was big news out of freddie. remember when the gses used to be the 800-pound gorilla in the kitchen? now 800-pound zombie and they are sitting in a coffin. nonetheless, their head guy this morning said, that's it. we are not going to securitize or purchase any more interest-only loans. now this comes after how many months of a lapse since the criseis? they have $24 billion in delinquencies in this category. it represents 7% of their portfolio. and out of that, 20% are over 90 days delinquent. the traders on the floor had one question. wow. what took so long. erin, back to you. >> thank you very much. rick santelli. >>> bond inves

we have rick perry in the governor's race in texas. he has tapped into some of the tea party sentiment in texas. having sarah palin there is a big move. it says he is trying to leverage the department. host: what was the goal over all of this tea party convention? do you get a sense of that? guest: the tea party goers i found to be real people with real frustrations, many of whom felt they were not being listened to and they did not have a voice. there were not being listened to by the republicans are the democrats. the convention goers, it was a chance to get together with like-minded people to be more politically active. with the organizers, they are still trying to figure out what it is they are trying to do. i suspect it was trying to bring the factions of the movement to get it. i will say that the convention goers say they do not speak for everybody, all the tea party people. but, they build this as the first national convention. it is hard to make that claim that they are not trying to be the leaders of the party when you build
