he was a lot like harry reid. in 1948, harry truman campaigned across this country, making the case against the do nothing republicans -- do-nothing republicans. [applause] for the last two years, harry has been dealing with the do- nothing republican leadership in the senate, just like character men. -- harry truman. despite their tactics and political maneuvering, he has been making progress. he does not give up. he does not give in. he keeps on fighting duty outlasts them. he has changed -- he keeps on fighting. the outlasts them. he has changed the landscape of america. we're ready to defeat harry reid. we're ready to take on that the challenge, and we are ready to tell them, keep your eye on the ball, harry, because the ball is not out here with social security, although it is a big part of it. social security has been rated and pillaged by harry reid for years. he does not want us to talk about that part, but we need to talk about that part because that is part of the debt that harry reid has created. so let's remind him that it is about the economy. the ball is not over here with the department of education. the ball has a part to do it the target of education because they are spending dollars that need to be better spent here in the state. but remind him, is about the economy. the ball is not about sharron angle. the ball is about harry reid, and it is about the economy that harry reid has been systematically destroying through these policies of stimulus, bailout, obamacare, cap and trade -- we can go on and on and on. does anyone here believe harry reid? do we trust harry reid when he says things like that? does he deserve any benefit of the doubt? this is what is going on now with energy. harry reid has temporarily taken a cap-and-trade provisions out of this bill to get it through the senate and into a conference committee where henry waxman has already promised to put cap-and-trade back in so that they can force it through in a lame duck section after the election. john kerry said they are going to do the same thing. it is not a big secret. they just think we are not paying attention, but we are. even if they were doing that, the senate energy bill sent billions of more dollars to the same green jobs racquets intended for the capitalist system. bottomline we need to tell every member of the u.s. senate, you vote no on any energy bill this congress. they do not deserve the benefit of the doubt on that issue. vote no on any energy bill. harry reid ignored it, pushing that it was all about unemployment. host: dave is concerned about the unemployment bill. where does it stand right now? guest: the unemployment bill is attached to other legislation, other spending was attached to it. democrats realize that that was not going to go over well with a lot of folks in congress who are worried about spending, particularly deficit spending. with just unemployment deficits alone, in the house bill that was passed at the end of june, the senate has not been willing to move this piece of legislation. some of the members want to get paid. the deficit right now is $1.30 trillion. they want to find something in the federal budget to pay for it. there is one democrat and several republicans who said that if that was the case, they would vote for it. if there were one vote short, they would have to wait for the government of west virginia to appoint a replacement for senator byrd, who would likely be a democrat. you would assume that this person would vote for the employment fell. host: portland, ore

reid poll that came out and has harry reid leading by 7 points in nevada. they are seen by a we will-respected pollster. they'll do a number of polls. and then there are real concerns here. there is a story going on at the moment. the liberal blog daily coast has been paying for a number of polls conducted by a firm called research 2000. well, now that blog thinks that these polling -- and by the way, every poll makes headlines. every poll leads some newspaper somewhere. the poll that -- rather, this company is now thought to have fabricated a number of their surveys. so that leads to obviously some mistaken conclusions. they've got some polls very seriously wrong and now they think they didn't conduct the polls in the first place. that's why everybody has to be more careful about polling than just saying have you seen the latest number? i'm ahead by 5 or behind by 5. it makes a large difference in who, what, how it was conducted. who the sample is. if i go out and survey a thousand self--identified democrats and say that president obama's approval rating i

caller: right now the majority leader harry reid is waiting on the 60th vote, which should be who was appointed from west virginia to replace robert byrd. once that happens, this month- long ordeal should finally wrapped up. host: what are they looking at as far as who would receive unemployment benefits and for how long? caller: what is at issue is not the first six months of benefits, financed by the state, but since the recession began, congress, both under president bush and under president obama, provided for extended benefits, more generous extended benefits. and those are the benefits that have been starting to be eliminated. host: past 26 weeks -- is that correct? most states provide up to 26 weeks? guest: every state provides up to 26 weeks. what is at issue is your eligibility for these additional tiers of benefits. there are several. the people who are losing their benefits are basically people who have exhausted one set of benefits, either the first 26 weeks, were there is a 20-week period that a lot of people get. people are losing them kind of gradually. one thing to not

they were the ones behind the -- the harry reid poll that came out, has harry reid leading by seven points in nevada. they're seen as a well respected poll. they'll do a number of polls closer to the mid term elections. then there are others. there are real concerns here. there was a story going on at the moment in the polling community, the liberal blog daily coast has been paying for a number of polls condubted by a firm called research 2000, that blog thinks -- by the way, every poll makes headlines. every poll leads a newspaper somewhere. the poll that -- rather this company is now thought to have fabricated a number of their surveys. that leads to, obviously some -- some mistaken conclusions. they got polls seriously wrong and people think that they didn't actually conduct the polls in the first place. that's why everybody has to be more careful about polling than just saying, hey, have you seen the latest number. i'm ahead by five or behind by five. it makes a large difference in -- you know, in who conducted the poll, when it was conduct and how. who the sample is. if i go survey, y
