i'm kristen sze. >> i'm eric thomas. topping our news, police say they'll return to a pittsburgh landfill this morning for a fourth day of searching. they're looking for this man, frederick salas. they believe he could be the fifth victim in a string of bizarre murders, possibly at the hands of one man. as cecilia vega reports, the search turned upping in. >> this landfill was supposed to be the biggest lead for investigators searching for salas. after sifting through 3,000 tons of debris in the landfill, there still are no new clues. >> unfortunately all the effort they've put in, they have yielded no results. >> it was a result of a week-long investigation that led searchers to the keller canyon landfill in the first place. valdamora worked at this park. unless something turns up soon, it could be back to square one. >> they're going to continue until they have come to the end, until they have found something or completed a search of the entire area. >> they fear salas could be the fifth victim in the string of murders

i'm kristen sze. >> i'm eric thomas. there's a new twist into the investigation into the san bruno explosion and fire. it appears that pg&e was raising concerns about this specific pipe eroding just days before the explosion. abc 7's terry mcsweeney is live with more. >> the chronicle reporting that the exact pipe that blew up out here last thursday starting that inferno came to pg&e's attention actually last year. now, according to the article, four pipes were corroding here in the bay area at gas transmission lines all tied to the milpitas control station and they were seeing compressor oil inside these pipes causing the corrosion. according to the article, pg&e says they stopped the liquid. haven't seen any since last november. another controversy has to do with the mess left behind. county officials want all the debris gone by october 15th, the beginning of the rainy season. the material has been tested, says the county. it's not contaminated by the air quality management district says otherwise, that this stuff has

. >> i'm kristen sze. let's get right to it. that's in concord where police are investigating a shooting involving an officer. details are very limited right now but we were able to confirm that it involved an officer and we know the area around the 1700 block of amador avenue has been closed because of this. about 2:30 this morning concord officers tried to stop a car. police cornered a suspect who flashed a weapon and that's when they opened fire wounding him. theresa garcia is on the scene and will be joining us live with more on this breaking story in just a few minutes. we're also following developing news in san francisco where right now an intersection is closed as police investigate a nasty early morning accident that sent four people to the hospital. this happened at the intersection of chestnut. two cars collided and look at that, one of them flipped. all four people taken to the hospital are said to have serious injuries. no word on when that intersection will be open. frances will be keeping an eye on that. >> the la

. >> i'm kristen sze. let's begin with the ending of a police chase spanning from the north bay to the east bay. this is where it ended, at roosevelt street in harbor way in richmond but it began when vallejo police were chasing a stolen car at speeds above 100 mph. the car eventually crashed into a parked truck near roosevelt street. the truck caught fire and the flames spread to the building with six residential units on the upper floors. nobody inside was hurt. fire crews put the fire out quickly and determined that the building was damaged but was still safe enough for residents to return. the driver of the car is hospitalized with moderate injuries. police say he faces numerous charges. a female passenger was also detained. >> a san jose police officer is in hot water this morning accused of staging a fake arrest. the reason? to scare his stepdaughter's boyfriend. theresa garcia's live in san jose with more on this story. theresa? >> this all unfolded last month when the officer found out that the 15-
