lisa murkowski narrowly lost the g.o.p. nomination to tea party favorite joe miller. murkowski announced she is back in as a write-in and both were speaking out this morning. julie kirtz is live with the latest. how did lisa murkowski explain the decision after she lost to go after the nomination and bam write-in candidate? >> she said she is not undermining the republican party with her write-in race, so she is pushing ahead, she said with her decision to run as a write-in and pushing to the center, by the way, as she tries to keep her senate seat. she is already trying to raise money. she had a rally in alaska. had a conference call with supporters yesterday. she is taking on, of course, tea party favorite joe miller. the message today on national television boils down to this. miller, she says is too radical for action and she says outside tea party activists conducted a live smear campaign on his behalf. here is murkowski. >> you had the tea party express, the california based group come in at the end minute in a campaign and run a mud-slinging smear, just a terri

lisa murkowski staging this write-in campaign and newt gingrich on saturday did not hold back and said she's essentially cheating by reentering the race or could have run as an independent. is that the opinion shared by republicans in washington? are they furious over this development? >> they're furious and she's a member of the republican leadership and she basically has been asked you know, to step down from that position. she ran in the republican primary and lost narrowly by 1600 votes to the tea party joe miller and decided-- look, her family is a golden name in alaska. she's been a senator for a while. her father was a senator and then a governor, the governor beaten by sarah palin,,so they have long time roots in the state and she is decided to run as a write-in. it's a free ucountry, she's allowed to do it. it's thrown it into chaos, she lost by 1600 votes and now we're in a threeway race and it's up for grab and you mentioned that we will have karl rove on. one thing we want to talk to karl rove is the heat he's come under because of being critical of christine o'donnell, and

we were told repeatedly there was no way that joe miller could beat lisa murkowski. the establishment was against him and he did it. the people make it happen. then we come to delaware and we have everything against us. christine o'donnell is being attacked viciously by the establishment. the same republican party that supported her two years ago when she was running against a biden. she is now running for a seat of the good old boys want and they are supporting him. they attacked her personally. we cannot stand for it anymore. we are not going to stand for it. the voters went to the ballot box and made a statement.
