satellite picture, radar combined, tropical storm nicole is 80 miles south, southwest of miami. it doesn't matter. it's just all of the moisture. it's just a tropical conveyer belt that will produce a tremendous amount of rain from north carolina all the way up to upstate new york and perhaps as far north as burlington, vermont. look at this rain that is pouring across north carolina right now. we are talking 7-8 inches of rain possible just east of raleigh and in our area talking 2-5 inches before all is said and done of you can see the rain moved in early and then stop and then we have light rain down to the south and that will again get in here in terms of heavy rain after midnight. flooding likely, critical time 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. we would love you to send in pictures before and after if you have an area flood prone. take a picture now and then after it begins to flood. check your subpumped and gutters and have a half a tank of gas. and we are concerned about alexandria, old town 1:31 tomorrow. in indian head at 1:00 and in annapolis at 11:10 in the morning, those are th

what was tropical storm 16 was upgraded to tropical storm nicole. heavy rains are hampering the sunshine state. nicole is churning up rough surf and up and down the florida coast. in fact, emergency officials are urging residents to prepare for possible flooding. heavy downpours have already dropped several inches of rain in south florida and slowed traffic on area roads to a crawl. further north, south carolina's coast is also starting to feel the effects of the storm and that is where we find the weather channel's mike seidel in north myrtle beach, south carolina. it now has a name nicole, mike. >> yeah, tamron. let me give you a little background on this. just because it's a named storm does not change the impacts. it is not that big of a deal. they upgraded it because it's now above 39 to a tropical storm. but the impact, still, very heavy rin. we had issues with flooding in jamaica and cuba, we had flooding in kingston, jamaica and as you mention south florida. up here ahead of the storm, wilmington had two inches of rain this morning and 15 in

this is a leftovers from nicole. and then also a frontal boundary -- just a mess right now so what we have are some serious flood issues across north carolina. this is just 24-hour totals in wilmington, 7 inches. but the last four days, 20 inches of rain. this is a record-setting rain event for wilmington, north carolina. still raining across this area and on top of that the rain to the north. we have tornado watches in effect until 1:00 this afternoon from the delmarva through the mid-atlantic. we have had a couple of scares across maryland and d.c. and back down through the hampton roads area. d.c. pretty much underwater right now. flash flood warnings for the morning's commute. we may see drying in wilmington today and continuing to see the stream of moisture. on of the of that, winds gusting over 25, 30 miles per hour w. the saturated ground, probably seeing some issues there, as far as trees coming down. the flood watches toward the canadian border. we are looking at ground stops now for d.c. and laguardia. and
