we want to check in with rob. it's nice across the bay area. >> it is nice. we have 50s for temperatures across both the bay area right now. we have misty skies out along the coast and 59 in san francisco. 56 in san jose and notice the sea breeze. it is strong and dragging in low clouds all the way to livermore. in terms of the air quality, that looks good for this time of year. no problems for the morning or afternoon exercise plans and the temperatures will stay mild. we have clouds racing and the jet stream is just to the north that keeps us locked in in terms of highs today. we expect a high near 79 and 79 in morgan hill and sfefb in concord and 60s for san francisco and oakland and 72 in petaluma. sacramento is 86 degrees. mild temperatures and we warm up thursday and friday to mid- to upper 80s. the weather looks fine, but i will leave it up to mike to see how the commute is going. >> we do have the delays on the bart line. that may or may not be related. some have the outdoor and some have the indoors. as folks leave the stations, there may be delays.

rob mayeda's been tracking the storm. he's in our weather center now. >> you can really see the size of that storm. almost as large as the state of texas, as you see the satellite view of this storm, still a major hurricane. we're talking winds of 125 miles per hour. the movement is still the problem. it's heading northwest at 16, taking it closer to parts of the east coast this morning. and as you can see here, this is our computer plot and it factors in a bunch of computer models to show us where we expect hurricane earl to be moving, heading off to the northwest today, approaching close enough to the carolina coast to issue a hurricane watch this morning. that has just been extended northward up toward virginia, before that storm tracks away from the east coast, likely bringing some tropical storm force winds as early as late tomorrow night on parts of the outer banks of north carolina. brent? >> as a matter of fact, nbc's jay gray is in north carolina this morning. looks like a pretty nice morning so far there. looks

. >>> robbed and assaulted. this latest attack happened early yesterday morning in the college park shopping center off route 1. megan mcgrath joins us with more on the attacks that have plagued that community for more than a month no megan, good morning. >> well, good morning. in the latest incident, a man was walking across the parking lot here when he was attacked and robbed by three suspects. it happened very early in the morning, 4:30 in the morning on sunday. this has been on ongoing problem. there have been several such robberies in recent weeks. the parking lot is well lit and not exactly off the beaten path. but that didn't stop the suspects. early sunday morning, police say three men jumped their victim from behind, assaulted and robbed him in the parking lot of the college park shopping center. therime is the latest in a string of robberies. there have been six such crimes since august 8th. students he been put on alert. it's unclear if the crimes are connected. all have happened early in the morning
