the sausalito art festival was packed today. it's part of a national trend that holiday travelers are sticking closer to home. for many, labor day weekend is that last weekend to get away from it, just as the school year begins. the camp grounds in marin county have been booked for months. for the agazzi family, the trip made a lot of financial sense. >> for the whole weekend i think it was a little over $100, so not too bad. >> reporter: triple-a travel service predicts 33.5 million people are travel more than last year's abysmal numbers, but the research shows while more people are traveling, they are sticking closer to home. an indication that travelers are still keeping a close eye on their money. the sites and sounds of the last days of summer were obdismay at sausalito arts festival. organizers expect 32,000 visitors and many from right here in the bay area. >> with the economy, last year, a couple of years ago we went catching. so this year, some local, something fun. >> reporter: there were those bucking the trend. this

but take a look at our pretty breezy areas, sausalito gusting up to 28. san francisco gusts as high as 31. sfo at 26. redwood city and emerald hills winds up to 27 miles an hour. breezy conditions are expected for the coastline and also for the bay for the afternoon. but sunny to mild temperatures in today's highs from the mid- 60s at the coast near 70 at the bay and near 80 degrees inland. for tonight, patchy fog expected to develop along the coast and also for the bay. but well inland another cool night with temperatures dropping down to the upper 50s as mostly clear conditions are expected. here's a look at some of those temperatures today. lower 70s in fremont and milpitas. 72 in santa clara. 70 in sunnyvale. 70 in mountain view. and the lower 70s in palo alto and also in redwood city. these temperatures are still as much as 13 degrees below average. upper 70s in antioch and in brentwood. lower 70s in walnut creek, danville and san ramon. and just along the bay here the 60s with the mid-60s in berkeley, 69 in san leandro, and 69 degrees in hayward. we

today is the final day of the annual sausalito art festival. organizers say they aren't sure they can match last year's 20% growth in attendance over the previous year but even in this down economy, vendors say there's a thriving market for artwork in marin county. some artists tell the marin independent journal they're pleased with sales so far and yesterday's nice, sunny weather might have helped boost the festival's pained attendance after a cold and windy start on saturday. >> that jet blue flight attendant who made headlines after the dramatic exit down the emergency chute said he was not fired by the airlines. he had been suspended by the company after his profanity-laced tirade over the loud speaker and his unusual exit at the airport. he attracted thousands of online fans and they urged jet blue to keep them employed. the airline announced he was no longer on employ. slater's lawyer says he resigned last wednesday. >> just ahead on abc 7 news at 5 a.m. with california california's unemployment running high, cities throughout the state a
