david collins has that story. we begin tonight with our chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer who has more on what happened. >> it was an intense area of low pressure that mr. espy quite a bit. it moved up west into the mountains. the storm went through ohio and is making its way through new england. it drove through warm and humid air through the mid-atlantic. our temperatures last night rising through the overnight into the 60's, setting the stage for that warm front to trigger the storm. just some scattered rain showers on the doppler. what we are keeping an eye on is this second storm coming through the ohio valley. it will cut across the mid atlantic tomorrow. still something to watch. it will also bring some much colder air with the potential for snow in the mountains. we go from potential tornados to a more wintery feel. more details coming up in a little bit. >>> some devastating sites to see, and trees on homes and power lines just hanging across trees. here is some of the video we captured in baltimore coun

david collins is monitoring developments and joins us live from annapolis. >> experts say the budget hole is getting deeper because of increased spending on mandates and entitlement programs such as medicaid. there is one bright spot, slots revenues. next year they could provide $105 million in relief. perhaps it was a case of stunned silence, but no one even cleared their throat estate analyst reveal how much of a budget shortfall lawmakers face next fiscal year. >> there is going to be a gap on a cash basis in excess of $1.6 billion. >> revenue forecasts are weak because the economic forecast is weak. tax dollars are inching in the right direction, but revenue sources are not keeping pace with expenditures. ongoing requirements mandates and entitlements account for 81% of spending. medicaid expenses are said to be the 800 pound gorilla. last year federal dollars help make ends meet, but those funds are gone. now that legislators have details on how bad things are, they will soon turn their attention on finding sources of revenue. governor o'malley has already said his next budget w

david collins, wba all -- tv 11 news. >> around 4:00 p.m. today, a 16 year-old was stabbed in the back during an altercation involving other students at douglass high school. the young man is expected to be okay and the search for his attacker continues. >> a former morgan state university football player is under our rest, accused of physically assaulting a female student on campus. the incident quickly turned physical and was witnessed by a number of students who reported to campus police. but not until 24 hours later the suspect was immediately dismissed from the football team. >> any time you have a male student involved in some sort of assault on a female student, we take that very seriously. the female student refused treatment at the scene. baltimore county police hope that the city will help them catch a man that rob a woman in a supermarket last week. at the man snatched a woman's purse while she was shopping. if you know who this man is, you are urged to call metro crime stoppers. >> in tonight's project economy report, 38 states s

david collins joins us live with the latest. >> it was quite a scene earlier today. emergency vehicles and police packed this parking lot. the neighborhood was put a lock down. three hours later, police determined the suspect was no longer a threat to anyone. police had been here just two nights ago. marcia and terrance wilson or are doing. this time, marshall matt police just outside her door. she had been shot multiple times, including in the face. she is listed in critical but stable condition at shock trauma. >> she walked of the house, suffering from those multiple gunshot wounds, as officers pulled up. they rendered aid to her and sought to the fact that she was transported to shock trauma. >> the couple had an 8-year-old boy and it is not known what the boys all are heard. police said the boy is now out with relatives. one neighbor expressed surprise that the boy was even in the house. >> i did not know there was anyone in the house other than the gentleman. >> terrance wilson, armed with a handgun, barricaded himself inside the town house. police set up an un

david collins is live at bwi thurgood marshall airport with the details. >> according to federal court documents, someone in the philippines said dresses to a west baltimore address. they were decorated with large buttons filled with heroin. heroin smugglers with ties to baltimore city airmail a package of eight dresses from manila in the philippines last week. this house in west baltimore is the address on the parcel. court papers indicate mark harrison lives there. the package was intercepted last week by u.s. customs and border patrol agents in cincinnati ohio. court documents do not reveal why it was tagged as suspicious. they were decorated with large buttons. agents discovered 650 grams of heroin inside the buttons with the street value of $50,000. although a novel approach, it has been tried before. this customs botha was taken in 2004 after a similar smuggling attempt in australia -- this customs photo was taken in 2004. an undercover agent made a controlled delivery to the west baltimore row house. the package was supposed to go to mark harrison. state records reveal he does n
