the other four stations and pacifica national have made the necessary staff cuts which pacifica requested three years ago. but a small insider group at kpfa -- >> good evening, supervisors. i'm robert english and am here to also speak against the resolution. just some background, i'm a native and resident of san francisco for most of my life. i retired from civil service with the city and county after 34 years as an administrative assistant and during that time i was active with my union local 790 of sciu and helped found a chapter and represented the p.u.c. chapter and the bargaining unit and union council. i also was a founding member of the public employees for a democratic union in 2005 and also have been a long time active listener and supporter of kpfa. now, as a union man and from a union family, almost always take the side of the union in any dispute such as the problems we had at have a layo where i now -- at velayo where i now live but can't support the union in this case and have made written comments explaining why. i know this is a well intentioned resolution but unfortunatel

most of everything happening is via email and the responses we get from pacifica management is speak to our lawyers. when we have had meetings, there's been lawyers present on their end, and to our understanding that is not negotiating in good faith. that's all i have to say as a union steward. one thing i want to say, too, is actually our news directors gave me this to say to you and i want to just read it. dear san francisco supervisors a as a long time news directors of kfpa f.m. we urge you to support avalos, campos, marr asking pacific radio to enter in good faith negotiation with our union, the local of 9145 and reinstate the morning show. we've served as union stewards at points in the past and are extremely disturbed by the actions of pacifica. she went over managers, refused to bargain in good faith and violated our contract provisions in carrying out the layoffs of the hosts of the kpfa morning show and suspending the program. pacifica has disregarded thousands of listener emails and phone calls, union grievances and appeals to reason by staff. we hope -- staff members to r

we are live in pacifica this morning. it is high tide and not calm. the water is chop we the waves crashing against the pier here. a lieutenant told me it started this morning after they received a 911 call of an overturned boat with three people on board off of half moon bay. they dispatched the helicopter and boat, but neither were needed. according to the battalion chief, the boat capsized in shallow enough waters that they were able to walk to shore. the boat named phyllis j. is essentially beach wrd it overturn overturned. >> woor he a fishing vessel that came aground with three people on it. we were not sure how they were getting off the boat. the three occupants were not immediately evident to us. they came out and were able to get off the boat on their own by jumping as the tide went. >> the chief said whoever was at the helm may have just fallen asleep along with the two others. that's when it overturned. all three are reported to be okay. the big concern is pollution. coast guard officials say the boat is carrying 2,000 gallons of diesel fue
