if you haven't had a chance to read steve's book, you should. you get a real sense for the breadth and the depth of senator moynihan's intellect and the ways in which he was able to bring his intellectual interests into the public arena. i don't know anyone who has done that. and then use them for the public good, anyone who's done that so spectacularly. his focus on penn station, for example, was the culmination of a lifelong concern with not just architecture, but with the value of great public architecture. he spent years agitating for the renovation of pennsylvania avenue in washington because of its importance as a national symbol. and it was thanks to him that it was final hi renovated. he was -- finally renovated. he was the driving force behind the restoration and preservation of buildings throughout this state from the customs house to the creation of a new peace bridge in buffalo e which we are working towards and making progress on. he saw these spaces, he saw these as spaces that represented the public and can fought to preserve them

you probably knows steve has been released, and he is in the chamber. if he could come to the podium. he was returned home on november 23 after spending more than two months in a detention center in arizona, and he is really on the verge of being deported to peru, where he has no friends or family and very little knowledge, but upon his return, he said to the san francisco chronicle, it all led of to me being an activist, so it could be passed for all the people in the same situation. he said, as long as i am able to use my voice and help myself, i am going to help people in the same situation. he is a tremendous leader and jump into the campaign. that is why i have so much respect for steve, a and his release became possible because of support from students and faculty and the voice of a united community coming together, not just for a chinese guy like steve but for all undocumented immigrants that should have dignity and human rights. it was also because of mobilizing from our communities. steve has been actively advocating for the dream act, which is

steve jobs is considered by many to be the heart and soul of apple. so anytime jobs says something or in this case announces he's going on medical leave, you know a lot of people will react from investors to consumers. in 2004, steve jobs had pancreatic cancer surgery. five years later the ceo had a liver transplant. now 17 days into 2011, jobs announces he's taking medical leave. >> it's pretty scary. we all have our mortality. and i think -- you know, it's pretty disheartening for the whole apple community. and we're pretty scared about
