to 280 northbound. look at some pictures we shot up on that ramp about an hour ago. that sign has been dangling over the roadway. apparently, part of it was dangling at around midnight. it went through a driver's windshield, the driver of a truck. it was dangling just high enough so cars could pass under it but the truck was too tall. the driver has major facial injuries but is going to be okay. the chp, caltrans, shut down that ramp. this is the ramp between northbound 101 transitioning on to northbound 280 into downtown san francisco. they want to be sure the sign is secure before they re-open the road which shouldn't be until almost 8 a.m. so again, watch out for that area. you can drive on both highways but not the ramp. the rain is picking up on the south end of the city. >> anne makovec in san francisco, thank you. >>> christin ayers is at the bay bridge toll plaza with advice for drivers heading to work this morning. take it slow, right? >> reporter: absolutely. we have a little sprinkle right no

they got all lanes open northbound 280 right before 101. but look at the slow traffic on the sensors backed up from ocean avenue. hopefully things will improve shortly. just one of many accidents we have been seeing across the bay area. that was a multi-vehicle injury crash. another reason to take it slow. out to hercules now, there was a tree down near the ramp on westbound highway 4. the ramp to westbound 80 in hercules. apparently some cars were driving by the tree hit it and then we saw a couple of accidents in the area. anyway, apparently the tree is now blocking the entire ramp in the area. so caltrans crews heading out there now to hopefully remove it. here's a live look at what it looks like out there. wet, flooding in the middle lanes. and yesterday, we saw lots of reports of standing water as well just past the metering lights as well so right now, we still have a high wind advisory in effect for the bay bridge. most of our bridges across the bay area have high wind advisories. you can see it in this nimitz shot. here's 880 throug

northbound has within closed for quite some time. so caltrans crews had to fix this just before the bulk of the morning commute. that's good news. this is what the belly of the 101 southbound or at least the connector between the connect -- connector between 2 0 looked like a few minutes ago. they sawed the sign in half and then the crews removed it this morning. the 80 southbound didn't have to be removed. it was damaged. both signs were damaged by a big box truck. chp stopped traffic going southbound for a little while so they could make that adjustment. it all began after midnight. the chp says a big box truck hit that northbound sign. one individual reportedly sufficiented injuries from fallen debris -- suffered injuries from fallen debris. an ambulance came out to treat her. crews didn't to actually come out here until:00 a.m. it wasn't until 4:00 a.m. that the chp and caltrans crews were on the scene. the sign is missing. by the time you reach this point you might know where you are going. how far, they are probably gonna make

northbound 85. they actually report it closer to highway 17. apparently a lane is blocked so chp en route now and as emergency crews as well. also north 280 at 85 we have another crash reported, reportedly blocking at least one lane so there's a couple problem spots already in the south bay that just came up in the last few minutes. in the east bay we had an accident westbound 580 to eastbound 24. they said it was blocking all lanes. chp got there really quickly but it is still blocking at least one lane as you make your way towards the caldecott tunnel. this downed tree in hercules is blocking the connection ramp westbound 4 to westbound 80. they're still trying to clear it. they need a chain saw and it's been out there a while. keep that in mind. you may want to take willow and turn around as a detour. check out the live camera shot for you. here's interstate 80 in berkeley. so far headlights moving westbound. a little bit more crowded but overall no major problems towards the bay bridge toll plaza. eric, kristen. >> thank you, frances. it's
