abc7's amy hollyfield is live in san bruno with more. amy? >> reporter: many people here in san bruno have little faith that pg&e will provide the documents. the big question is did pg&e violate any laws? conventional wisdom is that pg&e will be found guilty and fined at least $400 million. the california public utilities commission will look into whether the lost documents contributed to the disaster. if it violated any laws. at issue is pg&e didn't realize the pipe it had in san bruno. records on the computer showed it was a seamless pipe, when in fact it had been welded together. this is important because seamless pipe can handle more pressure than welded ones. they want to see what other pipes they have and pg&e has not provided the documents so far. according to the "san jose mercury news" they indicated they object to the tone of the probe. the attorneys telling the newspaper the probe seems to be starting with the presumption of guilt. lawyers for the families of those killed or hurt in the september blast will likely watch the investi

abc7's amy hollyfield is live at san mateo with the latest. amy? >> reporter: eric, this one really caught me by surprise. every time i covered this story, authorities talked about drastic cuts with no solution in sight. now suddenly they have a plan to save caltrain. it's great news for riders who were facing the possibility of no weekend service. trains during commute hours only during the week. state enclosure fare increases. it was bad news. now according to the media partner, "san jose mercury news" a new plan would save the current service and keep all the stations opened. passengers may have to pay more, but that's it. the money to save caltrain is likely coming from funds usually set aside for construction projects. they plan to have a special meeting this thursday to vote on the plan. expect it to pass, of course. it's such good news. your fares will probably go up 25 cents for a one-way trip. and it will go up $1 a day for the parking, for parking your car. you can expect that to go into effect in july. live in san mateo, amy hollyfield,

amy hollyfield, "abc 7 news". >> kristen: thanks a lot. authorities in marin county and nevada plan to hold news conferences today about the arrest of a nevada man for four murders. one of them was in marin county. joseph naso is 77 years old and from reno. police arrested him in nevada as soon as he was released from jail. he had been serving time for a probation violation. authorities will say they occurred in 1977 and 1978 and 1993 and 1994 and one was a marin county woman. police have withheld many of the details because they need time to notify the victims' families. >> they are looking for a fifth teenager in connection with a weekend murder of a 16-year-old boy. the victim was found dead in a duplex in 2100 block. casada. the floor had been soaked in gasoline and aborted attempt to destroy evidence by starting a fire. 15-year-old suspect is jailed. three others are jailed for arson and conspiracy. >>> the giants and dodgers go at hit again at at&t park. no problems were record in last night's first meeting of the rival teams since t

amy hollyfield joins us and what they are expecting today. >> even the prosecution seems to think its case weak. prosecutors asked the judge to drop one of the charges against bonds. legal experts say it seems like the prosecution's case is falling apart right before are very eyes. barry bonds did not take the stand and in fact no one did on his behalf. the defense rested without calling a single witness. legal experts weren't surprised. they say the prosecution's case is weak and clearly the defense is confident in the case. so the conventional wisdom is that he won't be convicted even if he is, the punishment won't be harsh. it will likely be house arrest. punishment may come to his reputation. >> it's going to be on the ballot for the hall of fame. there is nothing if you are convicted of a felony, that would preclude him from being listed as a candidate. question is how does a possible conviction affect what voters would do? >> bonds is on trial for telling a 2003 grand jury that he never knowingly used steroids. the prosecution took two weeks and called about two dozen witnesses

amy hollyfield, "abc 7 news." >>> the san jose based cisco is cutting about 550 jobs. they announced today its restructuring it's consumer unit and shutting down the video camera business. it comes after several quarters of disappointing results. cisco says it's realigning consumer business to focus on routers and switchers and servers for data centers. >> two big bay area transportation projects may fall victim to budget cuts. it calls for $38 billion in spending cuts including cuts to various transportation projects, officials with the california high-tech high speed rail project were banking on $2 billion a year to get bullet trains running between san francisco to l.a. by 2020. the cuts could cause delays for both projects. congress is expected to vote on the federal budget tomorrow and president will release more on the cuts in a national address tomorrow. >> in n sacramento tomorrow first hearing is on a new bill that would ban californians from openly carrying unloaded guns. the measure passed both houses of the state legislature last year but never made it to g

amy hollyfield, "abc 7 news." >>> the san jose based cisco is cutting about 550 jobs. they announced today its restructuring it's consumer unit and shutting down the video camera business. it comes after several quarters of disappointing results. cisco says it's realigning consumer business to focus on routers and switchers and servers for data centers. >> two big bay area transportation projects may fall victim to budget cuts. it calls for $38 billion in spending cuts including cuts to various transportation projects, officials with the california high-tech high speed rail project were banking on $2 billion a year to get bullet trains running between san francisco to l.a. by 2020. the cuts could cause delays for both projects. congress is expected to vote on the federal budget tomorrow and president will release more on the cuts in a national address tomorrow. >> in n sacramento tomorrow first hearing is on a new bill that would ban californians from openly carrying unloaded guns. the measure passed both houses of the state legislature last year but never made it to g

amy hollyfield joins us live from san francisco. this trial is racing toward the conclusion. >> finally the day is here. the case is finally going to the jury today. the defense had hinted barry bonds might possibly take the stand. you can only imagine how much time the prosecution ended up preparing for a cross-examination, but that never happened. the jury spent two weeks listening to more than two dozen witnesses, all of them for the prosecution. the defense didn't call a single witness saying only the defense rests. legal experts say shows the did d defense is very confident. >> it's not a surprise. quite frankly this is the one of the weakest prosecution cases anybody has ever seen. the defense is following conventional wisdom, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. >> bonds is on trial for telling a 2003 grand jury that he never knowingly used steroids and witnesses testified that he knew he was getting steroids from his trainer. the defense will argue those witnesses are lying and they all have an axe to grind and part of a conspir

abc7's amy hollyfield is live in san jose. the leaders will be armed with a new survey that could be an eye-opener. >> they are not pleased with the government an they will confront top public officials at the ibm research facility in san jose. three-fourths of the ceos in silicon valley who were surveyed gave legislature a negative performance rating. three-fourths. that is the most in the survey's eight-year history. they're unhappy with the state budget gridlock and the cost of the government. in the survey more than half of the ceos said they expect to hire more people this year. but they think we would see even more job growth if the government would quit creating problems. governor jerry brown will be at today's business climate summit and facing the ceos from big companies such as sun power and applied materials. the mayor of san jose san francisco, oakland will be here, along with the u.s. congresswoman lockgran. the government will be represented. the question is will the silicon valley executives tell them about the
