tonight l.a. police have identified the man they say brutally beat bryan stow more than seven weeks ago. the arrest came on an early morning raid on a hollywood apartment. >> reporter: a parole agent's punch, eyewitnesses led to the suspect in the beating of bryan stow. two locations with search warrants and weapons drawn. no arrests at a home but at a second stop he surrendered without a shot fired. he is being held on $1 million bond for a brutal beating of giants fan bryan stow. he was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. l.a. times reporting it was not his first brush with the law. the chief got the word from his chief of operations this morning. >> and he said the words i have been waiting for for seven weeks. he said that we have a suspect in custody. >> he was kicked unconscious in the parking lot of dodgers stadium. a reward eventually reached $250,000 and helped generate hundreds of tips that went nowhere. finally police acted on information developed from a tip from a parole agent. >

but one of the shows that i really enjoyed was "l.a. law." the reason i liked "l.a. law" was that it was about the kind of business of law. you know? a lot of it was about the real, you know, business. you have to work hard in that context to get drama. it's harder to write a show like "l.a. law" because you have to find drama almost in the ordinary practice of law. to my way of thinking, you know, doing a crime show or even a criminal defense show, that's the easy stuff to do. you know? there's drama that's inherent in it. the hard stuff to do is say, like "the paper chase" where they're going to the library. really. so you've got to figure out a way to make that interesting. we did a show called "scavenger hunt," a massive search through all the libraries. and it's actually a very exciting show. but when we went to the network, they said, what are you shooting? we said we're shooting an episode with seven libraries. and they were like, we got to cancel this. how did osborn get here? you know? that's the hard kind of stuff for television. i'd like to see more of tha

while the case against his alleged attacker continues to build down in l.a. now, right now, normally, suspects have to be charged within 48 hours of being jailed. otherwise, they have to be let go. but the suspect ramirez is on a probation hold right now, which buys prosecutors a little more time to continue to build their case. today, a criminal line-up down in l.a. to see if witnesses can identify ramirez as stow's attacker. here's the sketch of ramirez that was compiled with the help of witnesses after the attack on march 31. ramirez's lawyer says his client wasn't even at the game that day, that he spent the day at his aunt's house and is willing to take a lie detector test. the stow family filed a lawsuit against the dodgers and owner frank mccourt, accusing them of failing to provide adequate security. the family says there wasn't any dodgers security in the poorly lit stadium parking lot where stow was attack. and it took security guards at least 10 to 15 minutes to arrive after that beating. >> here you have a stadium that is supposed to be for moms,
