south san jose. santa cruz and los gatos throughout tonight with our latest storm system. also winter storm warning up across the sierra. snow level at about 5,000 feet. and we're looking at total accumulations that are going to be around 10 inches at about 5,000 feet. otherwise, right now, numbers are cold. 52349 livermore. 57 in novato. 58 in santa rosa. should have temperatures in the upper 70s this time of year right now. but way off the mark. we're going to see things tomorrow still stay cool and below average. a chance of showers in our forecast. and then ahead, we are looking at some slight warming again. not much. you can see there. i'm not raising my fingers apart too wide there. take a look here at our trough of low pressure is going to continue to push off toward the south. that will bring that flow of cooler air in place over the next 48 hours. we'll dry out thursday. we're not expecting a big warm-up coming our way. 60 tonight. of course, that rainfall continues to move in. by 11:00 p.m.

spotty showers from south san jose into evergreen. it's not a major storm but it is very, very cold and the roadways are slick. only mid-to upper 50s from redwood city to los gatos to 60 in livermore. we're going to be in the 40s in no time. unbelievable. right now, low 50s and 20 degrees off the mark. wet and breezy for tonight with the latest system that moves in. it's not very organized but it's producing rainfall for the entire state at this point. for us, over the next 12 hours, we're looking at a quarter of an inch, maybe half an inch for parts of the east bay and you can see here for the sierra, five to ten inches of snowfall at about 5,000 feet. very, very remarkable here for lake tahoe to see this kind of activity. very cold in the north bay. 40s for the east bay and for the south bay, close to 50 degrees and not too much warming tomorrow either. it's not going to be warm by any means. however, i have 70s coming up. when did 70 degrees feel so hot? i don't know. right now, i guess. >> right now. all right. thank you, jeff. >>

so here's live look at the 280 traffic heading out of downtown san jose. a few headlights there approaching the 880 interchange but it's a quick trip even as you make your way towards cupertino. the east bay, all the approaches to the bay bridge so far look great. slight delays in maybe some of the far left cash lanes but overall not too bad. it's the lower deck where we have that roadwork. three left lanes blocked until 6:00 this morning. also we just learned that the first street and essex street on-ramps are both going to be shut down until 6:00. for right now just a slight delay heading out towards the east bay. again, here's a wider view of the bay bridge toll plaza. 18 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maze down the eastshore freeway. milpitas 880/237, so far this is a good ride for your silicon valley commute. mass transit, bart has 24 trains now all on time. ace train number one got a great start. bart, ace, muni metro and caltrain all on time. overall not too bad for a thursday morning. remember kcbs, our radio partners, at 740-am and 106.9

the radar still active around the south bay. san jose. i ran right into a downpour around the airport this evening. most of the showers toward mt. hamilton. tomorrow morning, lingering showers. things have dried out for oakland and san francisco. good news for the construction repairs. hopefully all those showers have left the area and will stay off to the east. around the north bay, things have dried out. the sierra, the snow continues to fly. updated forecast projections for twin bridges and kingvale, 6 to 13 inches of snow here as we wrap up the weekend. that's just unbelievable. snow levels close to 4,000 feet tomorrow morning. most intense showers right now heading off east of sacramento towards rancho cordova. the bay area, though, starting to see those northwest winds picking up which should also shut down the showers tomorrow morning but we will see those gusts in some of the coastal hills maybe getting close to 35 miles per hour. so into tomorrow afternoon, should see some clearing. again, maybe lingering showers around the south
