this morning, that vallejo man has a date in federal court. sharon chin is live in san francisco now with more. good morning, sharon. >> reporter: good morning. the suspect due to go before a u.s. magistrate at 9:30 here in front of the federal courthouse. he will hear the charge against him of interfering with a flight crew and if convicted, he could face a maximum of 20 years in prison. san francisco police arrested 28-year-old rageit almurisi on sunday night. the chief flight attendant told authorities he repeatedly pounded on the cockpit door during the flight bound for sfo. two retired law enforcement officers on the plane helped the flight crew wrestle him to the floor. passenger andrew wei took these pictures and witnessed the drama. >> once they tackled him down we saw him cuff him in the back with handcuffs and at that moment we erupted in applause and the second applause when the plane actually landed. >> reporter: federal agents are investigating almurisi's background to establish a motive. he has a yemeni passport and california id

he was shot while driving on eastbound 780 in vallejo. he continued driving more than four miles to a mcdonald's in benicia. our anne makovec is there with the latest on the victim's condition and search for the shooter. anne, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. at last word he was still in critical condition after being airlifted to john muir medical center. we are waiting for an update on that right now. but this is where he came last night after he was shot while driving on the freeway and he drove four miles as sydnie mentioned four more miles. this was 8:00 last night. he was on 780 eastbound near glen cove in vallejo when a car pulled up to him next to him, also driving, and started firing several bullets hitting the car and him. he had a passenger and that person was not hurt. but he continued driving four miles, ended up at this mcdonald's, stumbled in bloodied and collapsed on the floor. mcdonald's employees stepped in to help. >> all of a sudden i heard somebody a customer in the lobby scream, oh, my god, he's shot. that's
