i'm eric thomas. >> i'm kristen sze. topping the news, firefighters are holding vigil outside san francisco general hospital where one of their own hangs on to life. critically injured in a ferocious house fire yesterday that killed another firefighter. the city's first for a firefighter in a line of duty in eight years. abc7's amy hollyfield is live outside the hospital. amy? >> firefighters are here pulling for their colleague. they are upstairs on a floor reserved for staff. the guard tells me some of them have been here all not long. they are here for 53-year-old anthony valerio who is in critical condition. he is suffering from severe burns. doctors are worried about his lungs. all of the hot air he inhailed. he was with 48-year-old vincent perez who was pronounced dead at the hospital. colleagues say perez dreamed of being a firefighters and loved his job. >> he had a good sense of humor. as a firefighter, he was always the first guy in the fire and the last guy out. he was a real firefighter's firefighter. >> his

eric thomas joins us in san francisco with the story. eric? >> cheryl, of course, hollister is owned by abercrombie & fitch. 19-year-old hani kahn was wearing that same scarf when she got the job in october of 2009. the scarf or hijab at the center of the legal fight. she says the store manager told her it wouldn't a problem wearing it every day. but just a couple of months later in february, she says following a visit from a district manager, she was called in, and asked not to wear it anymore. when she explained it's part of religious beliefs to wear the scarf, she was fired. the company said at the time it was because of all-american look policy. well, the equal employment opportunity commission has filed suit on her behalf. and legal aid today announced they are filing suit for hani along with the counsel on american islamic relations, trying to get the all-american look policy removed. they also want monetary damages. >> i was completely shocked. nothing like this has happened to me. i was 19 at the time. no one issued with it. >> by fail
