don knapp has a preview. >> amelia earhart failed in our attempt to fly around the world. in the nearly 75 years since she disappeared in the south pacific, her appeal continues to grow. which means just about everything to do with earhart also grows in value. in a storage locker full of stuff dianne brown inherited was an envelope of photos given to her mother by her flight instructor, amelia earhart. they could bring $40,000 to $60,000. this is oakland airport's old north field off earhart drive. in 1937, amelia earhart took off from here on her second attempt to fly around the world. earhart's plane most likely went down in the south pacific. brown was given the photos before the record attempt. estimated value, $6 to $800 each. >> i believe this to be at the oakland tribune building because this particular barber, i believe to be tribune bob. being fueled in 1937 for the navigation flight. the first attempt. >> this handout press photo should bring $1,000 to $2,000 because earhart signed it. the prize is this pair of goggles worn by earhart and cracked in an accident.

officials also ordered a shelter in place at amelia earhart elementary school. another gas leak prompted evacuation of three homes there. and a road construction project in downtown belmont has been on hold over a month after concerns about the accuracy of pg&e underground pipeline maps. workers were digging up sixth avenue near city hall and found a gas line only 12 inches underneath the road, expecting it to be three feet below paced -- based on maps. the utility says the maps can't guarantee depth. and we're learning it took pg&e 90 minutes to shut off the gas after an explosion on wednesday. a cracked pipe leaked gas into a cupertino town home. igniting a fire that destroyed a fire. officials say crews had to sig dig three homes to cast that leak. pg&e told the cupertino city council the type of plastic pipe is prone to cracking. there are 1200 miles in the system. and replacing 12,000 feet that have pipe and the town home complex. >> and over the years, the salvation army has taken in all kinds of donations, clothes, bikes, furniture. but a cannon ball? tha
