you have a situation at sutter. children's hospital is the third hospital in oakland. they did hire replacement nurses. the hospitals claim that these replacement nurses as part of their contract they have to be on for a certain number of days. so they cannot allow -- they don't want to pay two sets of nurses. they cannot allow the striking nurses to come back for several days. the union officials say this is a result of the decision to go on strike to begin with. but, both sides told me, the union told me today it is willing to strike again and it's demanding that management take all these concessions off the table in order to continue the talks and the negotiations. >> i have a bigger picture question. what is this strike say about the erosion of benefits at good middle class jobs? what do people think about that? >> it came up a little bit in terms of the conversations i had with some nurses talking about how, exactly how they are struggling to make ends meet and how they are having to pay more. and when you increase the cost of their benefits you're really eroding

organizers with the nurse's union say sutter health is their main target after proposing 200 cuts which include reducing health insurance, patient services and maternity leave. 23,000 nurses are expected to strike at 34 hospitals beginning at 7:00 a.m. this will affect more than two dozen bay area hospitals, including most of the kaiser permanente facilities. replacement nurses have been called in, but the nurse's union has a plan to help patients who need specific urgent care. >> we have an emergency task force set up that if there is a specialty that patients need because we have the experienced nurses, we're willing to go back in to assess the situation and make sure that no lives are lost. >> on the flip side, a statement from sutter health says the nurses are well compensated and they call the strike costly and unnecessary. >>> two nfl players have a lot of explaining to do about a package that arrived at their house. inside, they found more than 2 1/2 pounds of marijuana. it wound ut at the home of jerome simpson. anthony collins was also at the house. the two were questioned but
