christina loren is tracking the rain. she joins us now with the latest. >> if you are waking up with us in the north bay, you are gettiget ing pounded in spots. we are starting to see light shower activity even along the peninsula. that front is draped across northern california, mostly at the coast. we have a winter storm watch in place for elevations above 6,000 feet. if you're headed to tahoe, you could bring the chains with you. we could see chain requirements. as we head through wednesday, take a look at this. red, yellow embedded within the green. these are at best in places that pick up the most accumulation. but between 11:00 pm tuesday and 11:00 pm wednesday, take a look at how much more moisture will pass through the bay area. we are talking about flooding potential, upwards of three inches of rain right now in the forecast to the north bay and a lot of that moisture will make its way south along the peninsula as well. there's that weather maker and dip in the jet stream. we'll talk about what that means for you

meteorologist christina loren has a look at your forecast. >> hey there. we actually are going to see significant rain. as we head through tonight, you might just be awoken by pounding rain on your roof. the rain is coming in. you can see the clouds. you can see the front itself if you look off to the west. the next 24 hours will get pretty active around here. first thing that will happen is those winds will really start to pick up. then the actual front pushes into the bay area. the showers start at about 9:00. we're talking about gusty winds, snow level associated with this system between 5,500 and 6,000 feet. if you're headed to the sierra nevada tonight or tomorrow, bring those chains with you. we stopped the clock at 9:00 pm on your futurecast. light showers coming down. then at 1:00 am, it starts to get active with the heavy rain coming through here. that will blow through by 6:00 pm. we're left with a really rough commute tomorrow. we could pick up another inch or two of rain in the heaviest spots. after that, we'll have enough daytime heating to fo

elections foundation joining me live in chicago now the protests have been going on for seven weeks christina with people not backing down despite the police crackdowns we've just been talking about arrests and of course bad weather setting in they determined but the messages are somewhat makes a little confused in some ways so what exactly do they really want to achieve these protesters. well i feel that there are a lot of grassroots protesters that are just looking for something to latch onto and also with protesters on the tea party side i think the common denominator between the left and the right the grassroots that are looking for something to unite on is electoral reform and we can are come to terms of the fact that we have the wrong people in our office both democrats republicans getting money from unions and corporations and what we need to do is we need to break these relationships up and we the people need to run for office is bad and so although they are different messages coming from the tea party and the occupy movement they are essentially perhaps working together for the same
