even now a lot of mountainous areas of northern new england are past their peak. this is the peak weekend for many areas of new england, including the southern adirondacks and appalachians. we're starting to get the color going in the lower great lakes, too. the winds this week did remove some of the leaves. if you're traveling out west, we're past the peak in many areas of utah and even colorado now. as far as the weather goes, we had the horrible winds the last couple days. it's not as bad this morning. that storm system is beginning to leave us. we still have a little bit of breezy conditions. over the lakes we have lake effect rain showers. yes, we can get rain showers, too. in the winter we get the lake-effect snows. that's what we have from cleveland to ashtabula, erie, dunn dirk and buffalo. you need the heater on in the car from kansas city to st. louis and temperatures dipping from alabama and mississippi, down near 40. today's forecast, it looks splendid and gorgeous. a chilly start and a really enjoyable forecast in so many areas. i'll bring you the wee

new england, it was 87 yesterday in boston. really incredible temperatures, record highs in many places. it's a warm morning, we're at 66 in boston, 64 in new york. suburbs are a little cooler under clear skies. a lot of sunshine out there. late in the day. some high clouds will move in. for the most part it's going to be just like yesterday. temperatures just as warm, 85 in philly today, now a little bit cooler around buffalo and pittsburgh, for this time of year, it's still exceptionally warm. we could see highs in the 50s and 60s, we're about deny to 20 degrees above average and even into tuesday, not quite as warm. still, mid to upper 70s and actually the humidity will increase along with it as we go into wednesday. so really enjoy this. it's not going to last that long. you know it won't. wednesday and thursday in new york city, the rain arrives. that's the same forecast for d.c., baltimore, all the way up in the big cities. the great lakes looks pretty decent. 67, chicago. atlanta you'll see damp weather, cool and cloudy

also pull down some colder air up there in northern new england. we don't have a lot of snow that will stick during the morning hours. it will be as the storm intensifies that we'll see the heavier snow. you'll notice on the radar, the green is the rain. that's pretty much the i-95 corridor. just a rainy saturday morning. now back now into west virginia and central pennsylvania. that's where the worst will be during the day today. the blue on this map shows you where heavy snow is by 4:00. by this evening it will push through new york and philly and up through central new england. by 2 a.m. the heaviest snows are up by massachusetts, new hampshire. by tomorrow morning, the storm is completely gone. how much snow are we talking? not much, i-95, from new york to philly a slushy inch. to the coast, nothing. harrisburg up to 5 inches of snow it's going to be the northern new jersey, hudson valley, through the cat skills, poconos, the berkshires and up through new hampshire and maine. that's where the heaviest snow totals will be. that's where there's g

it starts loading up into northern new england. the picture yesterday, of what some people were saying, seven inches of snow in western massachusetts. this was a really big deal. a lot of people getting that first hit of snow. and now, what happens to the rest of the snow? the idea here is as this system loads in, it has plenty of cold air. it has plenty of moisture. it is a classic new england nor'easter. sorry. my lips are a little frozen. as you see the zones in pink here, we're looking at six to ten inches of snow expected. remember, this is going to be a very wet system. it will go from rain to snow to rain to snow. it's getting loaded with atlantic moisture, some tropical moisture. and it will make snow in colder locations. coastal areas, like new york city, even philadelphia, i would put in the smaller snowfall totals. new york city into boston. it will start with what will be cold rain. then, overnight, it will go to a little bit of snow, as well. you'll have a dusting and accumulation. we'll get serious with the totals and
