bob redell is bringing it to us live. what's the latest now, bob? >> reporter: police have overtaken the camp site right here on the edge of the perimeter you have three protesters chosen to remain here for quite a while now. and the police officer went up to them scene said, if you want to be arrested, you will be, just to stay where you're at. they getting personal information. this is how they've been handling this all morning long with the other protesters. they will thift them up, tell them they're being arrested. here you can see this is the scene it's been all morning. all the protesters, at least 20 so far, they've gone away peacefully. very business like. >> we're having trouble with bob's signal. just a little bit. it's only breaking up audio wise. the people really holding on. about three protesters are remaining in the plaza there. but it sounds like they don't want to move. mosts of the arrests are cooperative. we'll give you another vantage point as well from christie smith right what you see here, this is san francisco police officers

bob redell joins us live from oakland inside the camp. what's the latest from your vantage point. >> jon, not many people are inside the camp site itself, which is right here. there are a few people in there. for the most part the camp site is empty. most people have moved over to have wrist tee is at less than a block away. the the spotlight you see shining on the tarps, that is from a police helicopter. that has been circling ogawa plaza for about the past half hour. there's probably a good 200 to 300 officers out here. they surrounded the camp site itself 30 minutes ago. they're holding ground. they're not doing anything as far as moving in. i don't know if you were able to hear the loud speaker over near christie smith's live shot, but that is oakland police announcing to the crowd of protesters that you must leave. you must disperse. they've been doing that for about the past 10 to 15 minutes. if you want to contrast what is happening this morning and compare it to october 25th during the initial sweep that first swept out the plaza,

bob redell is live at cal state east bay, one of the campuses on strike. people were out there very early this morning. bob? >> good morning. you're correct. since 6:00 this morning. good morning to you, marla and jon. many of the faculty here at csu east bay is on strike, taking their protests to the main roads leading up to campus here in the hayward hills trying to slow traffic, sometimes bringing it to a full stop before letting it go. it's all an attempt to draw attention to their plight. the teachers union is angry with the university system over a broken promise. both sides did agree the faculty would receive pay raises during the two academic years that cover 2008 through 2010. those increases never materializes. csu blames is on state legislators who withheld hundreds of millions of dollars. without that money, cal straight administration says it can't afford to pay for those raises. even if they will did shell out the extra pay, the school claims it would take away from the students. the university says the money isn't there. sacramento withheld

bob redell joins us live at the scene of the accident with the very latest. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning, laura. a huge sigh oo of relief on behalf of sfpd that this wasn't a much more serious accident. the three officers involved in the crash about five hours ago have nonlife threatening injuries. in other words, they're going to be okay. this happened a little bit before 2:00 this morning. three officers in an unmarked patrol car. they get to 19th street. the car somehow lost control and went across the opposite lanes of traffic to slam into a light pole. the impact swuz so severe the car was totalled. those officers did get out of the car okay. right now they're at sf general, just a couple of blocks away. they were responding to a call of a man with a knife, which was a few blocks away from here at 24th and york. clearly they never made it to that scene. when they did arrive at sf general the chief of the fire department and the police department both of them were there to greet these officers at their bedside to make sure they're okay. ag

. >> that's where bob redell joins us live from. we understand at this point, this is the very same line that exploded about 13 months ago in san bruno. >> reporter: yes, line 132 that runs south from milpitas north along the peninsula. we're on northbound 280 at farm hills boulevard. pg&e is trying to figure out how to replace the section that ruptured yesterday. the hillside on one side and up there it's limited space that backs up to homes and private property. it's really an issue of access and how to get the equipment up there to make the repair. they're hoping to maybe do something this afternoon. this is line 132, the same one that erupted in san bruno last september, killing eight people. pg&e was safety testing this line with high water pressure when it burst yesterday afternoon, throwing rock and mud on to northbound 280, shutting it down for a short time. right now, speaking -- after speaking with pg&e this morning, the thought is that there was a dent or some sort of external scarring that caused it to fail yesterday, pe

bob redell is live at the port of oakland which is now open after another standoff with protesters early this morning. >> we begin with christie smith at frank ogawa plaza. the fires are out but the damage has been done. >> there's a lot of clean-up going on this morning. for people coming here to work, people getting off the b.a.r.t. trains, i have to tell you, their jaws drop when they see the amount of vandalism here in downtown oakland. someone broke this window that you see here. but we've seen demonstrators with occupy oakland trying to clean it up, that woman posting a sign saying i'm sorry. one demonstrator said that a separate group decided to try and reopen a vacant building as a homeless shelter last night. and when police showed up, this group got nervous and agitated because they already had a clash with police last week and then it deteriorated. over night oakland police tried to clear the area around a vacant building that pro efforts had taken over near frank ogawa plaza. bottles and lit flares were thrown at police as officers launched tear gas and bean bags. dozens were

bob redell is live in downtown san jose with more on what's happening. good morning, bob. >> scott, you and i have both been in silicon valley for years. to see this where it first started to where it is today is tremendous given the fact it is now a tradition. when the silicon valley turkey trot started seven years ago, carl, head of the silicon valley leadership group was hoping for maybe 1,000 runners. he ended up with 2,000. 21,000 people are registered for the 7th annual turkey trot. that's a ten-fold increase in a short amount of time. that means the registration is full. if you're thinking of walking up and signing up, it's too late. if you are racing. 6:30 a.m., in about an hour and a half is where you going to be starting to pick up your bib ls outside the hp pavilion. they'll do that from 6:30 # to 8:00. at 7:50, the 10k run. then the 5k walk and run. this is all for charities. it's been about six years since the race started. they raised $1.5 million for three local charities. they're hoping to add to that chunk of the change. the santa clara

bob redell is live in the east bay. one of the campus is set to go on strike. good morning, bob. within a half hour they'll start picketing. something that never happened in the history of csu. in spite of this, the campus will be open today. they are expecting such a turnout for the strike. they think classes could be shut down. the pay raises were promised but never delivered to the faculty. they covered 2008 to 2010. but csu never paid. the reason, administrators say they can't afford to because the state took away so much of their money. just yesterday the board of trustees voted to raise tuition by 9%. the same increase is under $900. that illustrates how dire the finances are. a panel recommended the administration cough up some of the pay raises. but the administration says the money just isn't there. and if they were to pay, that would mean cuts in classes offered to students. the faculty says this is unfair, especially since he believes the administrators withholding the paychecks are overpaid in their opinion. police in riot gear lining up near spruce hall where proprot

bob redell is joining us with the latest. good morning, bob. >> in a few hours pg&e will replace the three will have foot section of ruptured pipeline. it's up this hill near farm hill. that section shut it down for a short time. they've been conducting hydro status pressure tests. they purge the gas from the line to see how it olds. the utility says the point of rupture was dented. now just last thursday pg&e revealed a leak along the same line in palo alto. that section was installed in 1947 which critics say is a big part of the problem. now this line, line 132. a 24-inch transmission line that runs through san francisco is the same one that exploded in san bruno. pg&e did test lines often because it was so expensive. the goal is to test 150 miles of the transmission lines by year's en end. >> the whole point of the program is to identify weaknesses in the pipe. get in there. make repairs. make the system stronger. >> this testing will resume through november. then pg&e says they will pause testing because people need to h
