darcy spencer is live wi the late ossen this. darcy? >> reporter: aaron, i was able to look up this suspect's information through online court documents. it shows right here that this suspect was released on november 10th on a $75,000 bond. then go down here, november 18th, just last friday, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. an investigation is underway to see how, in fact, this clerical error could have happened. but right now police are focusing on getting him back in custody. prince george's county police are on the hunt for this man, 24-year-old frederick lawrence scott of maryland. he was being held on a first-degree murder charge at the prince george's county detention center in connection with a homicide last march. he was mistakenly released ten days ago on november 10th after posting a $75,000 bond. scott was supposed to be held without bond. authorities are describing the mistake as a clerical error on court records, indicating that his bond had been set at $75,000. >> we're, you know, using you guys as far as the med

darcy spencer joins us from wheaton. >> reporter: the victim was questioned by investigators for an extended period of time outside the bp gas station. once investigators were finished talking to him, he was able to go home. two things became very clear, he had a calm demeanor despite what he had gone through. he knew he wasn't the only victim. >> are you okay? >> yeah, i'm okay. >> the 60-year-old man was the victim of a kidnapping and robbery. police say he was the second man in three days to be forced into his car by a robber wielding a box cutter in this giant food park lot in wheaton. police believe the same man is responsible for gone crimes. >> you're the second victim. >> the victim left the giant at the west field wheaton mall around 2:00 in the afternoon. the robber told him to get in the passenger seat after getting the cash, the robber jumped out of the victim's jeep on blair road in north west dk near the takoma metro station. he went inside the bp and the attendant called 911. >> we caution people to not be on their cell phones. really look around and be caution and be aware of

darcy spencer live in the newsroom with more details on this. darcy? >> aaron, perhaps the most alarming part of this incident is the age of the victim. as you say, she was 8 years old. that's the youngest of all the victims in this string of attempted abductions. she tells police, one of the men involved yelled out, hey, baby, come closer to the van. an 8-year-old girl was the victim of an attempted abduction here on satterfield court in spotsylvania county between 4:15 and 4:30 on saturday afternoon. she tells police she was approached by four men in a van. one got out and gestured for her to come to him. she ran to her father and stepmoth stepmother's house. the men got away. it's the fourth attempted abduction reported in spotsylvania county since october 14th. >> my daughter's not going o upside outside to play. >> reporter: the man was in a dull black ford econoline van. the men were dressed in gray, big poofy coats. some were wearing necklaces with crosses over top of those coats. we spoke to colonel michael timm by phone. >> it's certainly very

news 4s darcy spencer joins us live with the story. darcy? >> reporter: first two incidents happened wednesday and yesterday afternoon. they happened in the parking lot at the giant store behind me. the latest incident happened over here in the parking lot of the target store not far away. police stay they do believe the same man is responsible for all three robberies. the 77-year-old victim was forced into his car at the target before 2:00. driven around to various atms and forced to withdraw cash. at 5:30 this afternoon when a source tells me he was found in his car at a gas station, zipit, near east/west highway, in the mall near prince jorng 'george'. the man was beaten and cut with a box cutter. the same instrument in two robberies. a similar incident yesterday afternoon involving a 60-year-old man kidnapped outside the giant food store. released at a gas station in northwest washington yesterday. now the first incident as i said happened wednesday night. that involved a 75-year-old man with very similar circumstances. but this is the fi

darcy spencer live on blair road in northwest washington, where this all actually ended. >> reporter: we're at a bp gas station on blair road, as you said in northwest d.c. this is where the situation came to a peaceful conclusion. fortunately no one was hurt in this incident. the suspect apparently drove the victim here in the victim's car, to this gas decision, and fled from the scene. the victim was able to drive his own vehicle away from here, from this gas station just a few minutes ago. but first i was able to ask him a quick question. are you okay? >> yes. >> reporter: and that was the victim there. he is 60 years old. he was kidnapped at the westfield wheaton shopping center at some point today. the kidnapper told him to get in the passenger side and the suspect did the driving in this incident. police say he drove to various locations. we don't know which locations they were. but this was an effort to obtain cash from the victim. at some point today. but it ended at 3:00. that was here at the bp gas station. the robber jumped out of the vehicle and remains at large. there was

reporting live from southwest washington, darcy spencer, news 4, back to you. >> all right, darcy. thank you. >>> a blaze tore through a house in prince george's county, and by the time it was out, a 6-year-old boy was dead. tonight two adult family members are in critical condition. as news 4's derek ward reports now, it's a tragedy that has left firefighters shaken. >> reporter: the scene on griffin street shortly after firefighters arrived. neighbors who called 911 said they were awakened by an explosion, and the nobodying e smoke and flames coming from the house at 2411 griffin. one neighbor said a resident at the house was running frantically from window to window trying to get other occupants out of the burning building. >> when firefighters arrived, they did find heavy fire coming from the front of the house. they initiated a quick, aggressive interior attack as well as a search and did pull out three victims all being pulseless and not breathing. >> reporter: they immediately began trying to revive the victims, two women, and a 6-year-old boy. the child did not survive. the

we begin with darcy spencer live outside the white house with developments. darcy? >> reporter: pennsylvania authorities had a press conference late this afternoon outlining the circumstances surrounding the arrest. the suspect had previously been staying at this hotel, but checked out. he was staying there with friends. he came back to the hotel today and someone there recognized him from the pictures that have been circulating in the media. they called the tip into police, police arrived and made the arrest. he was wanted for firing shots near the white house friday night. he's been captured. he was arrested this afternoon at a hotel in indiana, pennsylvania. it's more than 200 miles from washington. u.s. park police have a warrant for his arrest charging him with carrying a deadly weapon. >> the subject did not resist. a black bag, believed to have been in his possession was located near the hotel when he was taken into custody. as a precaution, a bomb detection canine unit was dispatched to the scene. there was no explosives detected. >> reporter: police believe

in rockville, darcy spencer, news 4. >>> there's no plea agreement in the case. it will be up to the judge to determine how much of the 40 year prison sentence he will serve. >>> on this eve of veterans day, more fall out about the mishandled remains of america's war dead. today, there are calls for an investigation to how the body parts of fallen service members ended up in a landfill in virginia. derrick ward reports. >> reporter: it went on between 2003 and 2008. some remains of fallen servicemen and women arriving at dover air force base were disposed of in a landfill. officials say the practice involved several limbs and dna material. the families were asked if the remains could be disposed of. they were cremated. disposing of them in a landfill is inappropriate. >> it's the type of damage, how do you repair that to the families and loved ones. >> reporter: often amputated limbs at hospitals is disposed of the same way. this practice seems dishonorable. >> we are obligated to do better. >> we have to be fully accountable in how we treat service members. >> r

darcy spencer has more on why some residents take their shopping somewhere else. >> reporter: this 37 acre parcel heavily wooded land may one day look like this, a town center anchored bay whole foods market. it would be the first whole foods location in prince george's county. >> the devil is in the details. we would love to have a whole foods, see the expanded tax base. on the other hand, we don't want to see the existing community run over to get it. >> reporter: the main issue is access. the property is along a congested route 1. developers are told to work on ways to ease traffic. jackie lives across the street from the undeveloped property and worries about the noise it will make. >> it's good for investment, but if you want it for your primary home, it's too much for me. >> reporter: it would include a fitness center, hotel and close to 1,000 housing units. getting the project approved requires a zoning change. it would be a major boost to the economy here. right now, the entire budget for the town is $5 million a year. this project would bring in $1.2 million in tax revenue. i

darcy spencer live in forestville for us tonight. the maryland state police barracks, with more. >> reporter: valiant efforts to try and save these boys from this fiery crash, but the intensity of the fire and the heat prevented that from happening. their mother was driving the car. she has told friends she is obviously devastated by the loss of her two young sons. chopper 4 was over the scene of a horrific three-car crash that claimed the lives of two boys, one 11, the other 2 years old, frld night. it was just after 9:30 on route 50 east near martin luther king junior high way in the glen arden area of prince george's county. 84 yeah vindle was driving a honda accord, the boys in the back seat. police say she rear-ended another car. both drivers stopped in the left travel lane. that's when a third car, a mercury marquise, driven by william lewis abui, slammed into the honda. the car caught fire, trapping the two children in the back. both boys died in the fire before rescuers could get there. we're told several motorists, including
