he gave a fiery speech in dayton, ohio. a couple of hours ago he was well received by the crowd there. many people urged him to fight on and stay in the race. we went up to the conservative businessman and asked him, point blank, is he vowing to stay in this race. here's what he had to say. >> mr. cain, jim acosta, are you going to stay in this race? >> we are reassessing and re-evaluating. >> how soon until we have a final answer on your future plans? >> we'll be making a decision in the next several days. >> thank you, sir. >> reporter: so, brooke, as you can tell, that was not a direct response to our questions from herman cain. it is an indication that he is trying to make this decision, whether or not to press on, and obviously there's a lot riding on whether he stays in this race, not only for herman cain or for the rest of the field. >> and he told you, is this based upon fundraising, is it based upon whether or not his wife is behind him. do we know? >> we don't know. and if it were solely based on the support he is

democrat mark dayton became governor of minnesota, succeeding a republican you might have heard of named tim pawlenty? no? not ringing any bells? democrat michael bennett won the colorado senate race against conservative republican ken buck. bennett won in part by making sure coloradans knew how radical mr. buck's positions were, particularly on social issues. actually asking buck in a debate who he wanted to two to jail if he succeeded in making abortion illegal without exceptions, which was his policy position. so a year ago, on election night 2010, the -- i'm not sure i left anybody big out. that was the entire universe of good news stories that night for democrats. other than those stories, election night a year ago was a really bad night for democrats. it was a red, red night, a red, red year. delightful if you are a republican, but a bummer of a night for democrats pretty much. that was a year ago, 2010. now it has been a year. tomorrow it is election day again. it's off year election day. still there's a lot going on. mississippi voters are going to be deciding tomorrow on an amen
