diane sawyer has interviewed gabriel giffords. she will be here with a preview of that chat upcoming. sort it all out karl rove who joins us from phoenix, arizona. mr. rove, as far as the g.o.p. is concerned. what's the most important thing that you have seen in the last few days? >> i think the most important thing has nothing to do with the republic field per se and that is the cbs news poll that said the president's approval on the economy, which is going to be the number one issue dominating the next 13 months, that his approval rating was 34% favorable, 60% unfavorable. and among those that felt strongly about it, 41% of all voters felt strongly disproving of the president. that's a pretty strong number. >> bill: okay. now you know and we have brit hume coming up behind you. that part of this occupy wall street movement was to set a scenario that it isn't the president's fault that the economy is faltering. that it's the fault of wall street and the bankers and the greedy 1%ers who are oppressing everyone else. it's not mr. o

a week after the shooting, mark kelly spoke to diane sawyer. >> do you ever worry, wonder, if she saw him? if she saw him and saw that gun? >> from what her neurosurgeons and the neurologists have told me, even if she did, she's probably not going to remember. >> reporter: but she did see it and did remember. when he asked her in march what she did remember, she said three words. shot, shocked, carry. he says one of the worst moments was in rehab when she realized she couldn't speak. her eyes widened in panic. and she began to sob uncontrollably. but this courageous woman did learn to talk again. in part, by reciting the u.s. constitution and martin luther king's i have a dream speech. >> welcome back congresswoman giffords here. >> reporter: then, last august, she stunned the world with a surprise appears on the floor of the house of representatives for debt ceiling negotiations. but it is giffords who pens the last chapter entitled "gabby's voice." a single page of brief sentences and phrases. she vows to try to get back to work. writing, i will get stronger. i will return. and from

because it seems from the diane sawyer program that music played a really pivotal role in her rehab. >> so speech is mostly controlled on the left side of your brain. but music is on the right side. and gabby's right side wasn't injured. the bullet went through the left. and one of the ways -- so she very early on, where she couldn't say a sentence, she could sing an entire song. and the speech therapists -- >> that's amazing. >> it's amazing. >> did you know any of this before? >> i didn't know any of it. they talk about left brain and right brain, but there is a lot of truth to that. and so she would sing a song and the therapist used that to help rebuild connections. they talk about the plasticity of the brain and it's able to form new connections and they say music is a big part of that. >> were there particular songs or singers that seemed to have a particular effect? >> well, things she knew well. when i heard that she had sung, like -- it was either happy birthday or some very simple song, that evening i said to her, and i didn't think she would respond at all. i said, can you

diane sawyer right back here tomorrow night. good night. >> the "occupy" movements heat up across the nation. protesters go toe-to-toe with police in oakland. >> tonight authorities are ratcheting up the pressure on protesters. >> they've been told that all city property is offlimits. we're at oakland police headquarters with the latest on this. >> reporter: these are the notices that police have been passing out, notice of violation and order to vacate. and i understand that in the last 15 minutes, police have arrived again at the plaza and have started to circulate more fliers. along with these notices, police also made a visual presence at the plaza throughout the day. at the "occupy oakland" camp, crews make their rounds and minister monique cleaning up abandoned tents.

she tells diane sawyer about the shooting rampage and about her recovery. she is still undergoing intensive outpatient therapy in houston. that interview is tonight it 10:00 on abc 7. >>> u.s. park police of issued an arrest warrant in friday night's's shooting near the white house. investigators have released the picture of and the name of the man they believe is responsible. brianne carter has details from the wenortheast. >> police are looking for 21- year-old oscar ortega. they believe he was involved in an incident near the white house friday night. authorities say that it happened in the 1500 block of constitution avenue. shots were fired. i witnesses then saw a car speeding off. that call was later located and police found a semi-automatic rifle inside. they obtained a warrant and are charging him with carrying a dangerous weapon. they hope it is what is on his body that will help them find disaster. >> on his upper back is the word "ortega." on his right says there's a tattoo of rosary beads and hands clasped in prayer. there's a tattoo on his left
