city council would like to shut down the occupy oakland camp. that was expressed late last night after a very long, very emotional city hall meeting. >> could someone please call a police officer, your all under citizen's arrest. >> that's part of what happened. angry protestors were among the hundreds of people they packed inside the oakland city council chambers. several times they got rowdy. this took place as the acting police chief defended the police actions during the riot early yesterday morning. >> my officers showed great restraint. >> boo. >> excuse me. excuse me. if we're going to disagree, let us disagree respectful. >> they called the meeting to decide whether or not they will support the okay you pay camp. they did not take an official vote but even the council members supporting the camp say the city may soon have to clear it out again. >> the oakland police department has released statistics showing many outsiders were arrested during the riot early yesterday morning. 103 people were taken into custody. 76 men, 25 women, two oth

this is right outside of oakland city hall. in this light fixture you concede police and city council president trying to assess the developments. it was just yesterday that councilman read and a number of other members of the city council as well as some city leaders and civic leaders as well as members of the clergy were there holding a news conference. they were demanding that the oakland encampment be shut down immediately. larry reed told us in a phone message, in a phone call moments ago that the order must, from the mayor's office and she has not made that decision. we will show you video that was taken just before 5:00 a.m.--5:00 p.m.. police and emergency crews are on the scene trying to revive the victim. we do not know the person's identity nor do we know his condition at this hour. we understand that it is a male. even see the emergency crews in the video trying to revive the victim. we do not know who fired the shot or the motive for the shooting. all of this started before 5:00 p.m.. jeff pierce is there a live as

occupy oakland protesters marched from their former camp site at oakland city hall through downtown. first stop, a wells fargo branch on western. the sign on the front door, property taxes, cost to community from the wall street meltdown. the march moved to another bank branch, chase, posting signs on the bank. one man wrote the word, 1%. the protesters moved to the kaiser center. a lone police officer was there to direct traffic. signs were also posted at bank of america branch at plaza center. the march ended here at the theater. officers closed freeway entrances and exit ramps. throughout the day, we did not see a lot of police presence, even coming into the park. there was a substantial number of police officers not dressed in riot gear, not showing batons, but they were around the area. police officers are at doors in some of the condominiums around the park. if you look a little to your right, you'll see a new group of police officers moving in. this group of police officers once again does not have helmets on, do not have helmets on. so we think that perhaps the mayor and the

so police in the city of oakland knew about it. and they have a plan. they are not seeing a lot of police in huge numbers, but again, police are in the area and do know that this is happening. this is another live look that we're giving you now, an up close look from high above. people climbing on top of those trucks and -- the containers, thank you, if you have driven by the port of oakland this is what you see. but you don't see this often at all. this is the first time since the '40s there has been a general strike in oakland. and this is definitely affecting the port of oakland. again, the protester's goal is to shut down the port of oakland, looking out we see a lot of people you know with cameras of course and video cameras, and a lot of people in bike helmets, riding their bikes down, many of them coming down the original occupy site. >>> and we heard the interim chief talking a bit ago. it appears that really what the police are planning to do tonight is give these protesters -- their space, howard jordan was saying they will protect property if
