and gaithersburg down to 37. frederick, 37 degrees; monasses and culpeper. what is happening? we haverhillatively light winds and clear skies. the temperatures are dropping and by tomorrow morning, that is going to be very, very cold. the temperatures may come up a bit and tomorrow morning. the wind is going to pick up a bit and fails like 35 for gaithersburg; feels like 46 for d.c.; feels like 35 in frederick and that is colder than the actual air temperature. i wanted to show you this. the difference between the actual temperature, the air temperature and the windchill factor is not that great this evening. 45 and cool. here in the city at 7:00, clear skies on through the evening hours and, again, in town. the temperatures will only be in the lower 40s to the upper 30s by 11:00 and out in the suburbs and the temperatures are dropping. it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the likes are around freezing. by 10 or 11:00 if not before. and we are clear and cold, below freezing definitely for the suburbs. we're going to bottom out at 37 here in town and we'll bottom out in the 20s

all of this happening this morning in gaithersburg. montgomery county police say a man, possibly a construction worker, was standing by the trench when a ride on bus hit a barrel which then hit him knocking him down to the bottom of the hole. it took 24 firefighters and urban rescue folks just to get him out. that victim is now in the hospital with serious injuries. he is expected to survive. no word yet if any charges will be filed in the accident. >>> an update now on a story about waste full spending. the obama administration is stopping nearly all production of the presidential dollar coin saving taxpayers $50 million a year in production and storage. in 2005, congressman dated that the u.s. mint make these coins. but the white house says more than 40% of them are returned to the federal reserve because nobody wants to use them. >>> with only 18 days before a payroll tax cut and jobless benefits expire, the house approved republican legislation to keep them going. here is the problem, it will head to the senate where democrats say

most areas in the lower 30s or upper 20s. 29 in winchester. 26 is the way it feels in gaithersburg and 30 in washington. we saw 17, 18 days above average but no more of those as the cold air races in behind the storm system. the storm will be out of the country by this time tomorrow and in behind it we are talking about sunshine but very cold temperatures. the temperatures will be five to ten degrees below average and be a lot colder than the temperatures for the last couple days. a bit of a shock to the system when you walk out tomorrow morning. mostly clear and breezy. 29 to 34 degrees. if we see a 15-mile-per-hour wind we are talking about a wind chill in the upper teens to lower 20s as you step out the door on thursday. tomorrow afternoon we will see plenty of sunshine but it won't warm us up. the winds diminishing and the high temperatures in the lower 40s. 41 to 45 degrees. look at friday. the high temperature, 48. friday afternoon is nice for a winter month. 42 on saturday. 44 on sunday. starting off on sunday, sunday will be the coldest morning we have seen so far this season,
