well here in san jose. your south bay forecast does keep the temperatures in the 50s today. again, isolated showers are possible, so we're not talking about an all-day rain today. on an off and very hit and miss as far as the rain showers do go. the east bay you'll be mainly dry but the cool readings this morning with the temperatures near 40 degrees. we're back close to 57 later on, and up towards san francisco in the marina area, going to be cool and cloudy for the most part, just as we saw yesterday with cool numbers. 52 is what we were forecasted for that area. make sure you keep the umbrellas handy. don't think you'll need them all day long, but, again, a potential we could see a brief downpour and i think you'll be glad you had your umbrella, especially if you get caught in one of the downpours. looking at upcoming temperatures, chance of rain starts to diminish so it looks like you'll be able to enjoy the outdoors coming up a little bit later this week. >> thanks very much, anthony, see you in a bit.

sewell thompson is live at san jose -- sue thompson is live at san jose city hall. >> reporter: san jose is about to celebrate a big amount of federal money on it was -- on its way this will no doubt change the lives of bart commuters in a big way. the federal government is prepared to give 900 million dollars to the santa clara valley transportation authority this is money that will go into a major transportation project. here is the plan, this is going to be a 10 mile expansion from fremont to berryessa. it will cost 2.3 billion dollars. we mentioned 900 million will come from the federal government that will be received today. the state is expected to kick in 650 million and the rest will come from a local sales tax measure that voters said yes to, four years ago. this project is also expected to create 5500 construction jobs. we hear that construction could begin as early as next month. the very first installment of that 900 million will happen later this morning. the v tv -- the vta will receive 100 million dollars to begin. south bay leaders have lobbied more than a decade to try a

state lawmakers are getting involved in san jose's pension questions. bob redell is live with new demands of an audit of the city's finances. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. about an hour and a half lawmakers who represent us state wide will be here at san jose city hall to request this audit of the city's finances and also their pension obligation. you're looking at the letter signed by the seven state senators and assemblymen requesting review of the past three fiscal years and all projections for pension estimates during that time. colleagues in sacramento will decide whether to approve this. this comes after a unit report that found that mayor chuck reed of san jose inflated the estimate of future pension costs. allegedly to strengthen his argument in negotiations with unions and workers that the city needs to cut back on pensions. whatever is learned could shape new statewide pension reform laws. >> we need to look at this from a statewide perspective and look at laws that could tighten up the transparency and fiscal accounta

george kiriyama is on the scene at an apartment complex in san jose. george? >> reporter: the last agents left about 90 minutes ago. this huge methamphetamines grab happened, right here. near the woods apartment complex. let's show you a map. this is a large complex, located at the corner of snell and capital expressway. dea agents and san jose police, and palo alto police seized 750 pounds of meth in this apartment unit. you can see the garage has been tagged with signs. notifying the neighbors about this seizure. palo alto detectives have been looking for stolen ipads. and their search led to them the woods apartment. as they were executing a search warrant, they found what appeared to be a huge amount of methamphetamine inside the apartment unit. they uncovered what looked like a meth conversion lab, where meth was being converted to crystal form. the street value for that amount of meth, $34 million. >> it's believed to be one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in u.s. history. basically boxes and boxes filled with bags and bags of methamphetamine. >>
