fox five's john henrehan has details -- fox 5's john henrehan has details. >> reporter: general fare increases are coming for metro rail and bus, but a strong lobbying effort by the users of metro access will likely limit increases for these riders. metro's management team proposed a slew of fare and parking increases, among them a 15-cent increase in the boarding charge during rush hours and mileage increases which would push the maximum peak rail fare to $5.75. off peak rail fares would also go up and for those passengers still using paper farecards the surcharge would jump from a quarter a ride to $1 a ride. >> what the fare increase does is provide additional revenue to us to provide additional rush hour service during peak period, to provide additional bus service to, improve our maintenance. that's one of the things we've been going forward with the last two years is increase the attention of maintenance through the system. >> reporter: the fares for disabled pangs who use the door to door metro access -- passengers who use the door to door metro access service will go up. doze

john henrehan joins with us the story with the latest. >> reporter: police in hyattsville area now they have five victims but they are not sure if they are seeking one assailant or two different men. this waterway in the hyattsville area of prince george county is known as the northwest branch of the anacostia river. alongside the waterway, lies a paved hiking biking and walking path known as the west bran trail. it's patrolled. a portion of the trail is adjacent to the west hyattsville metro station. from mid-march to april 20th, three different women have been accosted on the trail by an armed man, dragged off the trail and raped. one was in her 30s, one in her 20s and the most recent was 14 years old. this past week several area police departments met, compared notes and learned since january two other women were sexually accosted on nearby streets within walking distance of the metro stop. the trail has been pasted over with fliers described by the various victims. in all cases, the assailant is described as a male hispanic standing between 5'5" and 5'7". police are not sure if they

fox 5's john henrehan starts us off tonight. >> reporter: police got the call at 8:19 sunday morning in the forestville section of prince george's county. gunshots were reported in a house at the corner of judith avenue and marion street. two adult men were shot, one declared dead at a local hospital, the other width a wound in the leg according to a neighbor. >> right now we're investigating some sort of altercation that happened in the house. there were multiple people in the home. we're just trying to piece everything together to find out what was going on. >> reporter: two different neighbors told us police have been called to this house numerous times over the years, sometimes to settle fights. one neighbor who called the structure a party house said it was just a matter of time before someone got killed there. this was the sixth of a string of violent incidents that began friday night in hyattsville where three adult males were shot in an apartment building on northwest drive, all survived the shootings. the second incident occurred very early saturday morning in the lewisdale

john henrehan is live with the details. john? >> reporter: this is a terrible automobile crash. it happened in olney, maryland, on may 15th of last year. three young people died in that crash. the driver survived, he ran away and was captured after a three-hour search by police. when he was captured, he was tested and his blood alcohol level was two times the limit. the young man who was 20 years old, the driver at the time of the crash, then got 20 years in prison, an unusually tough sentence for someone convicted of vehicular manslaughter. today in court, his sister begged a three-judge appeals panel, a panel reviewing the sentence and called it a vengeful sentence, unfair, designed to appease the three families. the sister of the young man said don't take another life, another future, don't lock him in a cage for 20 years. the mother said the death was not intentional or malicious. every person in the car, she pointed out, was under the influence. tox logical tests confirm that. the families of the victims begged the judges to keep the stiff sentence in place. one of the fath
