bono. you've spoken to the summit. what is the mission and why is it so urgent? >> the mission i guess is obvious to -- no one wants to see children emaciated children. hunger is a ridiculous thing. we will know how to fix it. there's you know, there's whole new approaches to agriculture to increase productivity, et cetera, et cetera. what's key about today's announcement is that the president of the united states is supporting african ideas on how to fix their problem. their country-owned country devised plans in 30 african countries. that's what it will take to get to the 50 million people taken out of hunger over the next decade. so that's -- it's partnership. it's not the only paternalism. these are sort of horizontal relationships, not vertical ones. >> and these countries have spent the last couple of years, 30 countries, submitting their plans and now this is the time for action for business leaders, for others to join in and invest. you wrote in "time" magazine this week that africa

i have not done it pro bono. i have received a great deal, nothing monetary, but i have derived a great deal of pleasure from serving on this board, and i am pretty sad, pretty said to be leaving, and the mayor, by the way, was very gracious about the way he handled ball situation, and i'm going to assume he did it with every commissioner. he was certainly gracious the way he handled my leaving this board, but any rate, let me talk, if i may, i will limit for a few minutes. i have been here for quite awhile, and i have some thoughts about these proceedings, and i have some thoughts about the people i have served with, and -- said back. what i have really enjoyed about this board is that we get to deal with so many different departments. we have dpw, dph, sf mta, buf, planning. i am sure i have left some out. dbi. we get to deal with those issues, and what that does for us is we'd get a bird's-eye view of city government. we get to develop and i that gives us insights -- developed an eye with insights. in some way

they can also go get another counsel, a civilian counsel who may do it by pro bono or if the individual can fund it. and then if they are facing a death penalty case they get a capital counsel, capital qualified so-called learned counsel. and, you know, different accused have had teams of lawyers. it hasn't just been one. and the detailed military counsel or two, some defendants get three or more military counsel, could be a very complex case, a lot of discovery material, a lot of charges. the chief defense counsel who is a marine corps counsel again senior judge advocate, supervisory judge advocate for many years is picking that team. he'll be the lead military counsel. often in cases where you got a seasoned and experienced civilian counsel internally that team may make the civilian be the lead for a number of pieces, have the civilian be the one leading different pieces. but that's up to that team on how best to represent the client and of course it's up to the client. the client can designate who he wants to represent. so that's kind of how it works. and they are entitled to investi

bono's private equity firm bought into facebook in 2009. investing $90 million. and those shares are now worth 1.5 billion. but bono is brushing off the report, saying his firm is investigating other people's money. he told nbc news contrary to reports, this boy is not a billionaire or going to be richer than any beatle. we now know that the man who shot an unarmed teen in central florida repeatedly turned down transportation to a hospital after police responded. that officers initially did not think he needed any medical attention at all. that's part of the mountain of evidence that prosecutors have released about the george zimmerman case. as you probably know, zimmerman's attorney claims his client was defending himself. and that he killed 17-year-old trayvon martin because he feared for his life. zimmerman's attorney points to those photos of his injured client as proof. we also now have the surveillance video that prosecutors say shows trayvon martin at a convenience store minutes before he died. you can see him purchasing arizona fruit drink and skittles. h
