supervisor elsbernd: thank you. next speaker. >> i recently opened a gallery at 66 6 street across from where the club will be going in. this has been historically a bar and entertain a venue and has been a positive contributor to the red fabric. i would like to applaud the efforts of urban solutions who have come not to encourage new businesses to start there and the arts and entertainment district which has been touted by the mayor's office. i'm hoping we do not remove the pre-existing license location from the pool of available resources. it's very difficult to open one of these venues and it's very -- already been a positive contributor to the neighborhood and i hope to see it in the form in the future. having mark opened, has brought a lot of new life into the -- having monarchs open has brought a lot of new life into the area. i would like to applaud all the hard efforts of the police department trying to stabilize the community there and keep in mind that san francisco is a social policy of containment have c

supervisor elsbernd: next speaker, please. >> good morning. i made a business owner and i own a bar in nob hill. when i first applied for a beer and wine license, there had been an existing one but it had lapsed and was an empty storefront. we ran into similar opposition from the police department in north beach. we eventually figured out the best way to go around it is established some conditions to open up what was before an empty storefront and create jobs and create a space where neighbors could go where nobody even walk through before. i'm not an expert in crime in this city, but i have lived here long enough to know that sixth street is already crime-ridden. the way to solve it is not best served by blocking an application by law-abiding citizens to are going to create jobs and clean up the area and bring some lighting, but maybe come to an agreement, may be establishing conditions like the ones we had. there were some way things that could be done rather than just saying no. are the streets being patrolled enough? you have the numbers.

supervisor elsbernd. supervisor elsbernd: thank you, madam clerk. happy international workers' day. i am proud on this day to introduce legislation, an ordinance that essentially string bands some of our efforts to combat wage staffed -- theft by trading a wage theft task force in san francisco. i would like to thank supervisor mar, supervisor chu, supervisor avalos, supervisor campos and supervisor olague. we unanimously created and passed last year legislation and enhances the powers of office labor standards when it comes to white -- fighting wage theft. this task force will address legislative solutions that may be needed to address wage that and whether or not additional studies or research or data is required, and also will provide an opportunity for city departments, worker advocates and responsible businesses to coordinate their efforts to combat wage that in san francisco. national and local studies show that wage that remains a pervasive problem, a problem that causes harm to workers, the government, and responsible businesses. when an employer skirts and employment laws,
