pandora down again today. continuing to see weakness after samsung released new galaxy phone with a new built-in music service. pandora facing a competitive threat from the growing online spotify. faced with all that can pan do r ra continue to grow? let's bring in pandora analyst and john able, columnist for reuters. john, to you first of all. in what ways do you think pandora can still win? >> pandora has a space to itself. i think of pandora as sort of radio on steroids. so if you like listening to the radio and have like organic discovery like ser ren dipty, pandora is kind of perfect. it's really good on mobile. interface is great. it's different than itunes or google play or apple -- or itunes match. this isn't your own collection. it's very sort of certain se ren diptous. >> does it do anything completely different from services such as spotify? if i'm not wrong, if i use pando pandora, i can switch to spotify without being penalized at all. >> spotify is more of a record store experience and pandora is

i want to look at shares of pandora. we of course were talking with the ceo on "power lunch" in our next half hour. the stock up about 4% today. they released some april metrics and with some year-over-year numbers. they had 1.06 billion listener hours. that's up 87% year over year. 51.9 million listeners. they had 34 million a year ago. they have a 6% share of the listening music market, which is about double what it was before. and again, we have the ceo coming up on "power lunch" in just a little bit. back to you. >> all right, brian, thank you very much. the facebook road show goes to boston, and kayla toushy, a zuckerberg groupie clearly-s following along. she is live. kayla? >> well, tyler, facebook served boston investors a new york breakfast in the form of bagels and lox today as a zuckerberg-less management team cut right to the chase. according to one attendee of today's meeting, facebook laid out very clear priorities for itself as a public company saying first it's going to increase its nearly 1 billion user

i don't like pandora as much and i do like linkedin start with looking at pandora. you see the stock since it came public last year, the stock has moved in a slow small downtrend from the highs. if you look, you've had lower highs and also lower lows. the stock has been in a downtrend channel. and it has recently moved up about 40% to a level that is really unsustainable in my view. >> okay. >> based on today, it's starting to show signs of pulling back a little bit. near term i think it will pull back down near $9. that's a better area to take a look at it. >> linkedin has been more successful. >> linkedin continues to be a real winner. if you look at this uptrend, it's been a up place for quite some time. it got up to right near the ipo price intra-day of 120. it's backed off a little bit. but it's still good to be long in the stock and buy dips. the area i'm looking at a 105 initially and 101. i still think until the stock shows further signs of deterioration, you really have to stick with the stocks that are doing well and buy those. >> mark mahaney, with the va

groupon and pandora have been the worst performers since coming public. both groupon and pandora have got the same problem. there's nothing proprietary about them. groupon's local deal models has been replicated by everybody. pandora, online radio station, which to me doesn't seem that much different from a normal radio station. neither of these companies has been focused on profitability. facebook has much more in common with linkedin than it does with groupon or pan dor rasm they're making real money. they have an incredible platform. and the company is run by a brilliant visionary ceo. the earnings here are real. here is the bottom line. the facebook ipo is not a sign that we're repeating the mistakes of the dot-com bubble, even though everybody seems to say it. facebook is a fabulous company, much better than any other social media ipo we've seen so far. i think the stock will succeed, like linkedin. however, that doesn't mean you should buy it when it starts trading on friday unless you're in on the deal. if you don't get on the deal, recent history

let me show you pandora. its ipo on june 5th, 2011, that's when it had its ipo, it is down 54.5% since then. let's take a look at groupon. everybody wants to say this will end up like groupon or zynga or pandora. groupon is down 32.3% since then. and then there is linkedin, not anywhere near facebook scale, but probably most similar in its service offering, it ipoed on may 19 tth, 10 20 1 1rks i mean went wub, it's not a loser, it's up 34%. now i'll ask the question that you insist on answering. should someone get in and buy facebook and if so at what price? >> no, do not buy may 18th. what will probably happen, it may start off at $35 a share the day before. moth likely my guess is it opens around 80 o$80 or $90 a share. you buying that day, you will not make money. the similarity on those charts is tippic will the next couple of week, you see it selloff. people day trade it and it loses its allure. see where it closed at the first day. take 20% off that, pick that price as your limit, put a limit order in,

look at all the hype surrounding zynga, pandora, linkedin and groupon. of those four big social networkers, only linkedin is trading above its ipo price. bob pisani is at the nyse this afternoon with some of the risks and warning signs behind facebook's ipo. hey, bob. >> carl, i want to believe. i do. i just don't know. there's a problem here. the whole company is a bet that they're somehow going to have some special sauce that's going to lock all that information they have on everybody and turn it into a tsunami of earnings. i'm a little skeptical about that. if you are, maybe you want to hold back. they also tell me you're going to see facebook banking, facebook gaming, facebook movies, facebook salamis in the future. if you believe that, go ahead and keep buying. others are more skeptical. carl, insiders own this stock at $1.11. keep that in mind when it's trading around $50. >> that's a nice return. jeff kilburg with kilburg capital. jeff, i have seen up to $150 based on cash flow asujss five years out and more. why should i buy this? >> carl, every

pandora is one of those. we're very excited about the future for all those companies. >> in addition to mobile, where else do you see facebook diversifying? do you think we'll see retail on facebook? will facebook launch an ad network to put ads on other services outside of facebook? >> i think there's all kinds of opportunities for them. i'll let the company describe what exactly they're going to do when they're comfortable with it. i'll just say when you look back when i first got involved in the internet in the early '90s, i see where there wouldn't be advertising and people would never advertise on the internet and that not come true and have it become a big part of the advertising budget. so i've seen people believe you never put your credit cards or buy anything on the internet and we now see that's not true. i believe where usage goes and where the engagement is and where the attention is around hundreds and millions of consumers, you'll find the opportunities for advertisers to follow. >> david, befor
