several redwood city residents lost their homes this morning when their apartments burned. the fire spread quickly. amy hollyfield is live, what is going on? >> reporter: we are just learning from firefighters there are signs this appears to have been deliberately set. investigators are on the scene. they are taking a close look right now trying to figure this one out. they got the call around 12 threurpby this morning in redwood city that an apartment building was on fire. it looked like it was the rear part of the building. firefighters described it as heavy. then it started looking like it started in some cars at the scene of cars parked near or under the complex in the carport then spread to the building. when firefighters arrived the 27 people who live inside had already evacuated safely. firefighters say because it is is up a condensed area they didn't hesitate to call a third alarm. >> no injuries. the surrounding buildings, were not damaged or involved in any way, which was another good piece of work on our part. >> reporter: there were five seven cars parked in the
