not much of a factor for tampa. tampa reports like rain. it will get showers and thundershowers tomorrow. is it continues to head toward the gulf it picks up steam it should be hurricane within 48 hours and moving pretty good, it will land between pensacola and new orleans sometime tuesday night wednesday morning. it will roar with winds up to 100 mi. per hour. latest on the radar shows the winds and wind over southern florida. right now in bay area mostly sunny skies temperatures and upper 60s and low seventies. we look for the isaac path to shift towards new orleans. a model week for the bay area. high clouds over the california oregon border and will get warmer tomorrow. these numbers which were down by 5-10 degrees will warm up about 5-10 degrees tomorrow. if you're going out of the bay area thunderstorms in new york and chicago. the five day forecast made '80s for the bay area will be in the mid-70s that the coast and '60s. sunny in the afternoon. that helps true through next weekend. weather looks good. >>> just ahead 49ers broncos pr

so this could certainly be disruptive to everything going in tampa. >> tampa as we know the home of the republican convention. as the storm makes its way across cuba toward our shores it first hit the island of hispaniola knocking out power and killing at least three people in haiti. as people are still living in tents there. mark potter has the report for us. >> reporter: the storm brought heavy rain and in port au prince a river rolls close to a tent camp housing thousands left homeless by the 2010 earthquake. overnight the storm knocked down the tents here leaving residents again without places to live. charles spent the day picking up pieces and trying to rebuilt his tent in the rain in the mud. the wind he said, is what knocked it down. a man known as little brother lost his tent and carried his son out of the camp hoping to find shelter somewhere else. as the day wore on, everyone here worried about this river hoping it wouldn't swell further and that the levy would hold. a few miles away at an even bigger tent camp, residents made their way through the mud and tried to resume the

right now it's picturesque, looking great in tampa. but our political director mark preston is there. where, again, on the ground the palm trees are calm there. we know anything is going to change. likely there could be flooding. there could be up to a foot of rain that is dumped on tampa. so why did organizers decide that they had to make a decision and say let's go ahead and delay things right now? >> well, what they wanted to do, fredericka, we expect this storm when it passes by to bring in high winds and heavy rains that could in fact flood where i'm standing right now. with the storm tracking farther to the west, there's less of an issue about that. but more importantly to try to get delegates to the conntion center on monday in big buss across these bridges that link all the islands, it was not safe. these bridges were expected to be shut down. they made the decision to do so basically out of safety. so while the 50,000 people that are here in tampa, delegates, the international media, cnn, everybody here, there will be no evacu

tampa, very rough getting in and out of the area on monday. so people who have flights for monday very rough. tuesday is still very windy there. the rain for the most part will be over. somewhere from the panhandle of florida and maybe to the parts of mississippi we could be talking about a major hurricane. that will put you a lot of focus to the areas of the central gulf. very heavy rain falling and we talked about the models. this is one of the models. you look at this. very heavy rain through parts of mississippi and alabama and parts of south florida. not that much in tampa. look at one of the other models we have. it funnels all of the rain toward the carolinas. a lot of areas will be talking about sig can't flooding. significant flooding. that is tuesday, wednesday and thursday across areas of the southeast. >> are you seeing a major weather story in that part of the country. >> we could be having a major hurricane on our doorstep hitting across the central and eastern gulf tuesday night into wednesday. >> rick, thanks so much. i know yo

let's go to tampa. tropical storm isaac is delaying the start of the republican national convention with high winds and heavy rains in the forecast. the party chiefs did not take any chances, so they postponed the first day of events. and joining me now, tampa mayerbock bob buckhorn. i'm sure your heard your state's gsker talking about the fact it appears tampa is going to dodge the worst part of this storm. what's the status as far as you know? do you have that information and concur with that? >> alex, absolutely i do. as a matter of fact, the governor was about three miles away from where i am right now. it appears as though the track is moving to the west. tomorrow, we're going to get heavy winds, intense rains. i don't anticipate there will be a tidal surge or coastal flooding in the tampa area. there are low-lying areas that are normally prone to flooding anyway, and particularly with the ground saturated that would occur, but that would occur in a heavy storm anyway. the convention proceedings al
